  • Severino has rejected the Mets' one-year, $21.05 million qualifying offer, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Severino might not be able to match the $21.05 average annual value of the qualifying offer on a multi-year contract, but he should still do pretty well in free agency. The Mets are interested in bringing the right-hander back, but if they're unable to they will net a draft pick when Severino signs elsewhere. Severino, who turns 31 in February, held a 3.91 ERA and 161:60 K:BB over 182 innings across 31 regular-season starts for the Mets in 2024.

  • Will Sammon of The Athletic relays that Severino is unlikely to accept the Mets' $21.05 million qualifying offer. The deadline for players to make a decision on a qualifying offer is Tuesday, but it appears Severino is set to decline the Mets' offer in favor of attempting to land a multi-year offer. The 30-year-old right-hander signed a one-year, $13 million with the Mets in November of 2023 and had a quality 2024 campaign, going 11-7 across 31 starts with a 3.91 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 161:60 K:BB over 182 innings. It's certainly a risk for Severino, given the fact that he pitched just 209.1 innings from 2019 to 2023 due to various injuries.

  • Luis Severino: Given qualifying offer
    By RotoWire

The Mets extended a one-year, $21.05 million qualifying offer to Severino on Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Severino held a 3.91 ERA and 161:60 K:BB over 182 innings across 31 regular-season starts for the Mets in 2024. If he rejects the qualifying offer and signs a multi-year deal elsewhere, the Mets will receive a draft pick as compensation.

  • Severino will start Wednesday in Game 3 of the NLCS against the Dodgers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Severino will not be with the Mets in Los Angeles for Game 2, as he's already headed back to New York in advance of his Game 3 start so that he can get plenty of rest. The right-hander has posted quality starts in each of his two postseason outings so far, allowing a combined seven runs (six earned) with a 10:2 K:BB over 12 innings. He'll be opposed by Walker Buehler in Game 3.

  • Mets' Luis Severino: Taking ball in Game 2
    By RotoWire

Severino will start Sunday in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Phillies, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. The Mets are going with Kodai Senga (calf/triceps) to start what's likely to be a bullpen game in Game 1 before turning to Severino on normal rest in Game 2. Severino tossed six innings and allowed four runs (three earned) in his wild-card series outing versus the Brewers. He'll be opposed by Cristopher Sanchez.
