  Severino (8-11) earned the win over Houston on Wednesday, allowing three hits and issuing one walk while striking out five batters over 6.1 scoreless innings. Things haven't always been smooth for Severino in his first season with the A's, but in the likely case that this was his final appearance of the campaign, he went out on a high note. The veteran righty limited the Astros to four baserunners -- two of which reached in the first inning -- and at one point retired 10 consecutive batters before giving up a double on his final pitch of the night. Severino improved his record to 8-11 after it sat at 2-11 entering the All-Star break. If this was indeed his final outing, he'll finish 2025 with a 4.54 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 124:50 K:BB over 162.2 frames spanning 29 starts.

• Athletics' Luis Severino: Settles in for seventh win

  Severino (7-11) picked up the win in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Pirates, giving up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out three. The right-hander looked like he was headed for another rough outing when Pittsburgh ambushed him for three runs in the first inning and then banged out two hits in the second, but Severino kept his focus and avoided any further damage before being lifted after 97 pitches (64 strikes). Despite getting tagged for three or more runs in three of four September starts, Severino still hasn't taken a loss since the All-Star break. On the month, he's posted a 4.05 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB through 20 innings. He'll look to play spoiler in the race for the AL West title in his final trip to the mound this season, which lines up to come at home next week against the Astros.

  Severino allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two over five innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Saturday. All of the runs on his line came on a pair of home runs, as Will Benson hit a two-run shot in the second inning and Tyler Stephenson added a three-run blast in the fourth. Severino has now allowed eight runs with a 13:4 K:BB over five innings since returning from an oblique injury. He's at a 4.82 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 116:48 K:BB through 151.1 innings across 27 starts this season. The 31-year-old's next start is projected to be a favorable road matchup in Pittsburgh.

  Severino allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven over five innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Sunday. Severino fell behind early, allowing a two-run home run to Jo Adell in the first inning. The Athletics were able to briefly tie the game after Severino's exit to help him avoid the loss. The right-hander has covered five frames in each of his two starts since returning from an oblique injury, though his pitch count was in the normal range (89) in this outing. Through 146.1 innings this season, he has a 4.67 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 114:46 K:BB across 26 starts. Severino is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Reds.

• Athletics' Luis Severino: Sharp in return Tuesday

  Severino took a no-decision Tuesday against the Cardinals, allowing three hits and one walk in five scoreless innings. He struck out four. Severino was likely working with a workload restriction in his first start since Aug. 5, although that didn't prevent him from delivering his first scoreless outing since May 17. The three hits allowed also matched a season best, and the veteran right-hander has now tossed at least five frames while yielding two runs or fewer in four of his last five appearances. Severino has a 4.65 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 107:45 K:BB over 141.1 innings, and he'll be looking to increase his pitch count next week against the Red Sox.
