The Phillies are already locked in as the National League's No. 2 seed, so there aren't any stakes for Sunday's game against Minnesota. However, the contest presents an opportunity for Turner to shake off some rust before the NLDS. Max Lazar was optioned to the Phillies' rookie-level affiliate in a corresponding move.

  Manager Rob Thomson said Friday that Turner (hamstring) had an encouraging day of work, and while Turner won't play Saturday, he could return to the lineup Sunday against Minnesota, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Turner is working his way back from a strained right hamstring and could be activated for the Phillies' regular-season finale. Thomson has reiterated that Turner is expected to be available for Game 1 of the NLDS on Oct. 4, but a tuneup game Sunday could help knock off some rust, considering he's been on the shelf since Sept. 8.

  Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Thursday that Turner (hamstring) will not be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, and he's not sure whether the shortstop will return at any point during the weekend series versus the Twins, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The good news is Turner had another good workout Thursday and Thomson is adamant that his starting shortstop will be ready for Game 1 of the NLDS on Oct. 4. Ideally, Turner will be back at some point this weekend in order to knock rust off before the playoffs, but the primary goal is to have him ready for the postseason. He's been sidelined for much of September with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain.

  Turner (hamstring) could be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday ahead of the final series of the regular season against the Twins, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Turner is progressing well from a right hamstring strain and will face live pitching Tuesday and Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park. If that goes well, he appears likely to rejoin the Phillies' active roster Friday. The 32-year-old has been sidelined for the past two weeks of action.

Manager Rob Thomson adds that Turner is recovering well from his Grade 1 right hamstring strain and that the star shortstop will be reinstated from the injured list once he's able to run close to 100 percent. A return before the end of the regular season for Turner remains in play, though his earliest possible activation date appears to be Thursday based on the next steps in his rehab.
