The Mets recalled Brazoban from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. The right-hander was optioned to Syracuse on Friday, but he'll rejoin the Mets just a couple days later since Paul Blackburn (hand) was placed on the injured list. Brazoban has a 3.76 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 44:18 K:BB across 40.2 innings between the Mets and Marlins this season.

The Mets optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. Brazoban is the roster casualty following the return of Dedniel Nunez (forearm) from the injured list. Since being traded from Miami to New York in July, Brazoban has surrendered seven earned runs in only 10 innings -- a stark contrast in performance from the 2.93 ERA he posted in 30.2 frames with the Marlins.

The Mets acquired Brazoban from the Marlins on Tuesday in exchange for outfield prospect Wilfredo Lara, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Brazoban had primarily worked in middle relief for Miami this season and pitched well with a 2.93 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB over 30.2 innings. The right-hander will likely fill a similar role for the Mets.

Brazoban is a candidate to step into the closer role for the Marlins in the event Tanner Scott gets traded, Kaushik Sampath of the Miami Herald reports. Andrew Nardi is viewed as the top option to replace Scott, especially with A.J. Puk having been shipped to the Diamondbacks, but Brazoban might also be a factor in the ninth inning. The right-hander missed the beginning of the season due to visa issues, but since making his 2024 debut at the beginning of June, he has posted a 3.14 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB through 28.2 innings. He's taken things to another level over the last month or so, giving up zero earned runs over his last eight games with a 0.79 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB in 12.2 innings. Brazoban hasn't seen much high-leverage work this season, however, managing only one hold and one win in 18 appearances.

Brazoban struck out one in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning Tuesday to record his first hold of the season in a win over the Royals. The 34-year-old right-hander didn't get a chance to break camp on the 26-man roster due to visa issues, but Brazoban has looked good since joining the Marlins at the end of May. Through nine appearances and 15.1 innings, he's posted a 2.93 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB, and he may be working his way into a higher-leverage role.
