  • Bido (wrist) is with the Athletics but has yet to begin playing catch since going on the IL last Tuesday, MLB.com reports. Bido had been dealing with the wrist issue for several starts before finally getting to the point where he was having difficulty gripping the ball, so his recovery could potentially carry through the end of the regular season. Manager Mark Kotsay remains hopeful the promising right-hander will be able to make it back for at least one more start, yet time is working against Bido at this point with less than two weeks remaining in the 2024 campaign.

  • The Athletics placed Bido on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right wrist flexor tendinitis. Bido had been slated to start Tuesday in Houston but instead is headed to the IL for at least the next two weeks. JP Sears will now be the starting pitcher for the Athletics on Tuesday. Bido has been a bright spot in Oakland's rotation this season, collecting a 3.41 ERA and 63:26 K:BB over 63.1 innings covering nine starts and seven relief appearances.

  • Bido (5-3) picked up the win Thursday against Tampa Bay, allowing one run on two hits and three walks across five-plus innings. He struck out six. After tossing back-to-back shutout starts, Bido was excellent once again Thursday. He allowed two or fewer hits in for a third consecutive start and punched out six batters for the fifth time in his last six outings. After posting a sub-par 5.86 ERA with the Pirates in 2023, Bido has a 3.24 ERA and a 51:24 K:BB across 50 innings this season. The 28-year-old is tentatively scheduled to face the Reds in Cincinnati next.

  • Bido (3-3) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out five across six scoreless innings. Bido followed up his first quality start of the season Sunday with the best start of his career, silencing the Blue Jays in a 1-0 victory. He generated 11 swinging strikes on 89 pitches and did not allow a single hard-hit ball. On the season, the 28-year-old owns a 3.92 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 39:19 K:BB across 39 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Giants next weekend.

  • Bido (2-2) took the loss against the Angels on Sunday, allowing seven earned runs on six hits, four walks and a hit batsman over 3.2 innings. He struck out six. Bido's swing-and-miss numbers weren't bad, but he otherwise had a rough go of it against what had been a light-hitting Angels squad. He actually cruised through his first two frames, but his unraveling began in a third inning during which the Angels sliced a 6-0 deficit in half via a Luis Rengifo RBI groundout and Willie Calhoun two-run single. Bido then issued three walks and a go-ahead grand slam to Taylor Ward in the fourth, putting the right-hander on the hook for the eventual loss. The 28-year-old saw his ERA shoot up from 3.09 to 5.00 with the rocky outing, but Bido is likely to remain in the rotation for the time being and projects to draw an unenviable matchup in the Dodgers for his next start this coming weekend.
