Singer is not on the Reds' wild-card roster. Singer started Sunday's regular-season finale, so he likely would have been available to pitch in the wild-card series only in a limited relief capacity. It's possible -- though not a given -- that he'll crack the rotation if the Reds advance to the NLDS.

The 29-year-old labored in this outing, requiring 71 pitches to complete his 10-out appearance. Singer (14-11) yielded four runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings Tuesday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Pirates. All four runs against Singer came in the second inning, capped off by Oneil Cruz's two-run blast. After a stretch of six consecutive quality starts, Singer has failed to complete six innings in either of his last two appearances. Tuesday was the first time he gave up more than three runs in an outing since Aug. 7, which was also against the Pirates. Singer now owns a 3.95 ERA with a 158:59 K:BB through 166.1 frames. He's expected to take the mound in Milwaukee this weekend for his final start of the regular season.

Overall, his ERA sits at 3.86 with a 1.22 WHIP and 155:59 K:BB across 30 starts (161 innings) this year. Singer is tentatively lined up to face the Pirates at home his next time out.

Singer (13-10) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out four over six innings to take the loss Friday versus the Athletics. Singer gave up a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first to Lawrence Butler and also surrendered the first of Carlos Cortes' two solo shots in the game. While this was a sixth straight quality start for Singer, it was the first time he'd allowed a long ball in that span. He's given up eight runs over his last 36 innings while posting a 36:9 K:BB. For the season, the right-hander has a 3.94 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 149:57 K:BB across 155.1 innings over 29 starts. Singer is projected for a road start in St. Louis next week.
