  • Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Wednesday at his end-of-season media session that Mauricio's (knee) rehab has gone slower than expected and the 23-year-old has yet to begin baseball activities, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports. Maurico underwent surgery last December to repair a torn right ACL and then required an additional operation in August to remove scar tissue from the same knee. The Mets had said following the latter surgery that Mauricio was expected to be ready for the start of spring training, but it's unclear whether that's still realistic.

  • Mauricio underwent a cleanup procedure on his right knee Tuesday and will miss the rest of the season, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. The 23-year-old prospect tore his ACL in winter ball and underwent an initial surgery in December, but Mauricio had to go back under the knife this week to remove some scar tissue, ending any chance he might have had of playing in 2024. The Mets expect him to be fully recovered in time for spring training next year. Mauricio made his big-league debut in 2023 after posting a .292/.346/.506 slash line for Triple-A Syracuse in 116 games, and assuming he is healthy next spring, he should be competing for a spot on the big-league roster and potentially even the starting job at second base.

  • Mauricio (knee) was cleared to begin running and hitting in late May, MLB.com reports. Mauricio opened the season on the 60-day injured list after he tore the ACL in his right knee in December while playing in the Dominican Winter League. He underwent surgery in January and is facing a projected recovery timeline of 8-to-12 months, leaving the door open for the 23-year-old infielder to return from the IL in September. While Mets vice president of player development Andy Green said May 31 that "everything is progressing as it should" with regard to Mauricio's recovery, the organization won't have a clear idea on whether he'll be able to return from the IL in 2024 until later in the summer.

  • Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Shifts to 60-day IL
    By RotoWire

Mauricio (knee) was placed on the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. The 21-year-old underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee in early January, so his move to the 60-day IL was an eventuality. He's facing a projected 6-to-8-month recovery, so a return for September is likely the best-case scenario for Mauricio, and there's a real possibility he sits out the entirety of 2024.

  • Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Undergoes ACL surgery
    By RotoWire

Mauricio underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. Mauricio suffered the injury last month while playing in the Dominican Winter League. Per the Mets, a typical timeline for a return to game action from this procedure is 8-to-12 months, which would indicate the young infielder could be out until September even in a best-case scenario. Mauricio had been slated to compete for the third base job with the Mets, but the bulk of those duties now figure to fall to Brett Baty.
