Vinnie Pasquantino 1B | KC
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Shifts to 60-day IL
Kansas City transferred Pasquantino (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Sunday.
Pasquantino will miss the rest of the 2023 season after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery, so this is just a procedural move that clears room on the 40-man roster. The Royals used that created room to select the contract of Matt Beaty from Triple-A Omaha.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: On bench for Game 1
Casas is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Yankees, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
Casas was scheduled to sit Saturday before the contest was postponed due to weather, and he'll stick on the bench for the makeup game Sunday afternoon. Justin Turner will man first base while Masataka Yoshida serves as the designated hitter.

Luke Raley RF | SEA
Rays' Luke Raley: Not in starting nine
Raley will be on the bench Saturday against the Padres, Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Raley has been the latest Ray to emerge from obscurity and become a productive part-timer, hitting .270/.350/.597 with 12 homers and eight steals in 180 trips to the plate. He owns an 1.156 OPS in the month of June but will nonetheless head to the bench after making three straight starts, once at first base and once at both of the outfield corners.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Sitting Saturday
Casas will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Yankees, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Casas finds himself on the bench against a righty (Clarke Schmidt) for just the third time all season. His first full season hasn't gone as planned, as he's hit .208/.330/.375 across 230 plate appearance, though he does at least owns an .819 OPS over his last 10 games. Justin Turner will handle first base Saturday.

Jose Abreu 1B | HOU
Astros' Jose Abreu: Piling up extra-base hits
Abreu went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored Friday against the Reds.
Abreu started a ninth-inning rally with a leadoff double and ultimately scored the Astros' only run. Across his first 61 games of the season, he managed only nine-extra base hits. In seven games since, he's racked up three homers and three doubles while also scoring five runs and driving in 10. Abreu has settled into the fifth spot in the lineup with Yordan Alvarez (oblique) sidelined.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT
Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Heads to bench
O'Hearn will be on the bench Saturday against the Cubs.
O'Hearn has been surprisingly effective in 27 games for the Orioles this season, with his 1.004 OPS dwarfing the .683 OPS he managed across parts of five seasons with the Royals. He's almost exclusively been deployed against righties, so it's no surprise to see him sit here against lefty Justin Steele. Ramon Urias will start at first base.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT
Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Stays hot Friday
O'Hearn went 3-for-4 with a double in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Cubs.
O'Hearn has gone 17-for-42 (.405) over his last 12 contests, and he appears to be the replacement for Ryan Mountcastle (illness) at first base. It's a rather unprecedented run of success for O'Hearn, who has rarely been more than a versatile bench bat in his career. He's up to a .338/.381/.623 slash line with five home runs, 19 RBI, 13 runs scored and seven doubles over 84 plate appearances. He may have some fantasy appeal, at least in AL-only formats, while he's wielding a hot bat.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Takes some throws Friday
Mountcastle (illness) took some throws at first base before Friday's game, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
Mountcastle was placed on the injured list earlier this week due to vertigo. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde noted Friday that while the first baseman is feeling better, he's not fully 100 percent. He is eligible to return from the IL on June 20, although it's uncertain whether he'll be ready at that time.

Donovan Solano 1B | TEX
Twins' Donovan Solano: Blasts second homer
Solano went 1-for-2 with a three-run homer in Thursday's 8-4 loss against the Tigers.
Solano gave the Twins a 4-1 lead in the second inning with a two-out, three-run homer off Matthew Boyd. Solano has two home runs on the year, both coming in his last four games. The veteran infielder has gone 8-for-19 (.421) with a 1.402 OPS over his last six games. Solano's now slashing a solid .286/.378/.404 with 17 RBI and 17 runs scored through 185 plate appearances this season. He should continue to see regular at-bats in Minnesota thanks to his ability to play multiple infield positions.

Spencer Torkelson 1B | DET
Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Continues good stretch
Torkelson went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Twins.
Torkelson extended his hitting streak to five games and he's batting .381 during the stretch. The 2020 No. 1 overall pick has yet to truly break out at the MLB level, but the talent is there for him to string together more games like this one. Torkelson has pushed his OPS to .711, which is a significant improvement from the .604 mark he posted last year as a rookie.
