Mountcastle has been scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Cardinals for an unspecified reason, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The 25-year-old was initially slated to serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth Wednesday, but Cedric Mullins will now rest his legs as the DH while Jorge Mateo enters the lineup at shortstop. It's not yet clear whether Mountcastle will be available off the bench or whether he'll return to the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Cardinals.

Calhoun isn't starting Wednesday against the Royals.

Calhoun recorded hits in four of the last five games and went 4-for-16 with a homer, three RBI, a walk and four strikeouts during that time. Adolis Garcia will shift to right field while Eli White starts in center.

France went 2-for-3 with an RBI infield single, a run-scoring hit-by-pitch, a double, a walk and a run in a win over the Phillies on Tuesday.

France was a constant thorn in the side of the Phillies all night as evidenced by his very busy stat line. The burgeoning star had been a bit quiet at the plate after a torrid stretch where he hit .405 (17-for-42) between April 23 and May 3, but Tuesday's productive showing snapped him out of that funk and pushed his season line back to a sterling .320/.396/.475.

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the White Sox.

It's no eight-RBI performance like Monday, but Naylor is locked in at the plate. His seventh-inning blast off White Sox starter Lucas Giolito was the Guardians' lone run in the contest. Naylor's power surge has lifted his slugging percentage from .460 to .611 in the last two games, though it's still relatively early in the season. He's up to five long balls, 22 RBI, 10 runs scored and four doubles through 77 plate appearances. The 24-year-old's strong play has likely strengthened his grip on a starting role at first base.

Vaughn (hand) is scheduled to report to Triple-A Charlotte to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Vaughn recently received a cortisone shot for the bruised right hand that resulted in his placement on the 10-day injured list last week, and the injection apparently had the desired effect. Manager Tony La Russa said Vaughn will play a couple games in Charlotte, and if all goes well, he could come off the IL as soon as Friday.

O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

O'Hearn had started at first base or designated hitter in four of the Royals' last five games, going 2-for-13 with two RBI and a run. With a southpaw (Martin Perez) on the mound for Texas, the lefty-hitting O'Hearn will cede his spot in the lineup to the righty-hitting Emmanuel Rivera, who will handle DH duties.

Chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom said the Red Sox want Casas to be at Triple-A long enough for pitchers to get a chance to adjust to him so that he can make adjustments of his own, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. "One of the things about the game today more than at any point maybe ever, certainly at any point I've been in it, is when you get to the major leagues, there is already a book on you," Bloom said. "And you will get attacked the way you should be attacked from pitch one. So going through that period of making those adjustments is really important."

Casas, who bats left-handed, is hitting .154/.267/.192 with 11 strikeouts in 30 plate appearances against left-handed pitching at Triple-A this year, and Bloom noted his struggles against same-handed pitching. The Red Sox obviously want Casas to have a good chance of staying up with the big club whenever he does get the call, so while Bobby Dalbec has already been worth -0.5 fWAR through 26 games, they won't be bringing up Casas just because he has strong surface stats and plays the same position as Dalbec.

Torkelson is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Athletics.

Harold Castro will pick up a start at first base while Torkelson takes a seat in the midst of his 2-for-32 slump at the dish over his past 10 games. Expect Torkelson to re-enter the starting nine for the second half of the twin bill.

Naylor went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double, eight RBI and a walk in Monday's 12-9 win over the White Sox.

Naylor drilled a grand slam off of Liam Hendriks to tie the game in the ninth inning before hitting a three-run, go-ahead home run in the 11th. The 24-year-old is up to eight extra-base hits and 21 RBI with a .338/.370/.574 slash line through 73 plate appearances. More regular playing time could be available for Naylor if his bat stays hot.

Rizzo went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Rizzo plated the only run of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning on a double to left center. It marked the first baseman's first double since April 28 against Baltimore and his first RBI of the month after going just 2-for-20 in his first six games of the month.
