  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Gets Sunday off

Torkelson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Harold Castro will draw the start at first base while Torkelson exits the lineup for the first time since April 11. The rookie's move to the bench comes after a rough four-game stretch in which he went 1-for-14 with a walk and seven strikeouts.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Rangers' Kole Calhoun: Sits versus lefty

Calhoun is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

The lefty-hitting Calhoun will bow out of the lineup with southpaw Kyle Muller on the hill for Atlanta, ending a streak of five consecutive starts for the veteran outfielder. He went 2-for-18 over that stretch to sink his season-long slash line to an ugly .164/.193/.182 across 57 plate appearances.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Gets breather Sunday

Rizzo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Rizzo will get a well-deserved breather after he started in each of the Yankees' last 11 games while turning in a monstrous 1.195 OPS fueled by six home runs and three doubles. DJ LeMahieu will fill in for Rizzo as the Yankees' first baseman.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Could return Monday

Vaughn (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Vaughn will take a seat for the second straight game due to the right hand injury he suffered in Friday's 5-1 loss in the series opener, though he's not dealing with any structural damage after X-rays returned negative. According to James Fegan of The Athletic, manager Tony La Russa said Vaughn's hand is still sore, but the 24-year-old has been able to swing the bat and may be allowed to pinch hit Sunday. Even if Vaughn goes unused off the bench Sunday, he could still rejoin the lineup for Monday's series finale.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Takes seat Sunday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Diaz looks to be getting a routine maintenance day after starting each of the past six games while going 6-for-17 with a home run, seven walks and three runs over that stretch. Harold Ramirez will fill in at first base in the series finale against Minnesota, but Diaz should have a clear path to a full-time role at either corner-infield spot for at least the next week after Ji-Man Choi (elbow) was placed on the injured list Sunday.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Rangers' Kole Calhoun: Dropped from leadoff

Calhoun batted fifth and went 0-for-3 in Saturday's 3-1 win over Atlanta.

Prior to Saturday's game, Calhoun had a three-game run as the leadoff batter against right-handers, but he had an 0-for-10 stretch with two strikeouts in that role. Nathaniel Lowe, the Rangers' best hitter at this point of the season, moved to leadoff. Prior to Calhoun in the leadoff spot, Brad Miller filled the role, but a recent slide prompted him to be dropped to the lower third of the order.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Rehab assignment to continue

Kirilloff (wrist) doesn't have a clear timetable for when he will return from a rehab assignment at Triple-A, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "We just want to make sure when we're inserting him, we're not just inserting a guy that we think is healthy; we're inserting a guy that's ready to play and go out there and produce," manager Rocco Baldelli said.

Kirilloff is 2-for-10 at the plate in four games for Triple-A. It was initially thought he'd be activated from the IL after as few as two rehab games, so this is a slight surprise. It may be due to Trevor Larnach playing well since Kirilloff went on the IL.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Not in Saturday's lineup

Vaughn (hand) isn't starting Saturday against the Angels.

Vaughn's X-rays on his right hand came back negative after he was hit by a pitch Friday, but he'll still be out of the lineup for at least one game. AJ Pollock will shift to left field while Adam Engel starts in right.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: X-rays negative

Vaughn (hand) underwent X-rays that came back negative Saturday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Vaughn was hit on his right hand by a pitch in the ninth inning of Friday's game against the Angels, but he's considered day-to-day after his tests didn't reveal any structural damage. If he's forced to miss any time, Gavin Sheets and Adam Engel are the most likely candidates for increased at-bats.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Reduced to platoon role

Dalbec will start at first base against left-handers, while Franchy Cordero slots in against righties, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Dalbec's season-opening funk finally cost him plate appearances, reducing him to the short side of a platoon. Cordero was called up Friday and started against Baltimore right-hander Kyle Bradish. With O's righty Spenser Watkins projected to start Saturday, Dalbec should open the game on the bench. Dalbec, who entered Friday's game as a defensive replacement, is batting .154 through 19 games.
