  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: On bench vs. lefty

O'Hearn is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Mariners.

As per usual, O'Hearn will hit the bench with a southpaw (Yusei Kikuchi) starting for the opposition. In his place, Frank Schwindel will start at first base and hit fifth.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: Workload ramping up

Guerrero (oblique) went 1-for-3 and was hit by a pitch for High-A Dunedin on Tuesday.

It's not an impressive line in the box score, but it did represent a big step in Guerrero's recovery, as he was playing back-to-back games for the first time on his rehab stint. The 20-year-old is 4-for-15 with a double through four contests for Dunedin, and he may not be far away from a promotion to Triple-A Buffalo -- the final stop before his big-league debut.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Takes seat Wednesday

Diaz is not in the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Diaz will head to the bench for Wednesday's series finale after starting the past five games, going 5-for-21 (.238) with a pair of homers and a stolen base in those contests. Daniel Robertson will man third base and hit seventh in this one, with Ji-Man Choi at first base and Avisail Garcia at DH.

  • Rangers' Asdrubal Cabrera: Expected back Wednesday

Cabrera is expected to return to the starting lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Cabrera was given an off day Tuesday after a whirlwind couple of days in which he flew from Anaheim (Calif.) to Miami (Fla.) to be sworn in as an American citizen before returning to Arizona on Tuesday afternoon.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Connects for third homer

Voit went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Astros.

Voit took Gerrit Cole deep in the first inning for his third home run of the season. He is now riding a five-game hitting streak, though he has failed to record multiple hits in any game and his average still sits at just .195. Encouragingly, he has only struck out at a 22 percent clip to begin the season and has paired that with a strong .340 on-base percentage. Batting third in the Yankees' lineup due to injuries, Voit should rack up plenty of counting stats for the time being.

  • Rangers' Asdrubal Cabrera: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Cabrera is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Diamondbacks, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

He is 3-for-24 with a 34.6 percent strikeout rate over his last seven games. Patrick Wisdom is starting at third base and hitting seventh.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Twins' C.J. Cron: Sits in NL park

Cron is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Mets, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

With the Twins playing in a National League park, they are opting to go with Willians Astudillo at first base and Cron on the bench to open the game. With Jacob deGrom on the hill, perhaps they just want a guy in there who is unlikely to strike out, but maybe Astudillo has already ascended past Cron in the hierarchy for at-bats on the rare occasions when the Twins play in an NL park.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Platoon role continues

O'Hearn will head to the bench against lefty Marco Gonzales and the Mariners on Tuesday.

O'Hearn has sat against every lefty and started against every righty so far this season. That pattern continues Tuesday, with Frank Schwindel starting at first base.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Retreats to bench

Tellez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

With a tough lefty (Chris Sale) on the mound for Boston, Tellez will head to the bench as Toronto counters with a more right-handed-heavy lineup. Lourdes Gurriel will step in for Tellez as the Jays' designated hitter.

  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Angels' Justin Bour: Launches first homer

Bour went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Monday's 5-2 win over the Brewers.

The eighth-inning blast off Chase Anderson was Bour's first homer of the year. The first baseman has had a rough start to his Angels tenure, slashing .125/.282/.250 through nine games, but the power should come -- he's slugged at least 20 homers in all three of his MLB campaigns in which he played 100 games or more.
