  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Batting cleanup in return Friday

Calhoun (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Friday's game against the A's.

As expected, Calhoun is back in the lineup after making a pinch hit appearance Thursday against the Phillies. Calhoun has struggled mightily since the All-Star break with a rough .149/.259/.255 slash line over 47 at-bats. He'll look to get things turned around Friday against Jharel Cotton.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yulieski Gurriel: Hitting again after day off

Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Rays. The run batted in was his first in eight games.

Gurriel had been in a skid to end the month of July before getting a day off earlier this week. Since that time off, he's hit safely in four straight, going 6-for-17 (.353) with a pair of doubles and an RBI.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Expects to return Friday

Calhoun (hamstring) said he is available off the bench Thursday and he expects to be back in the lineup for Friday's game against the A's, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

It appears Calhoun is just about over the bout of hamstring soreness that has kept him out of three straight games. He'll likely test out his hammy before Friday's series opener to make sure it feels alright, but expect him to be back in right field in place of Ramon Flores.

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Still out Thursday

Calhoun (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies.

Calhoun is set to miss his third straight contest as his hamstring is still giving him issues. While general manager Billy Eppler indicated the injury wouldn't force him to the disabled list, that could change if he doesn't return over the weekend. Ramon Flores is starting in his place in right field again.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Angels' C.J. Cron: Knocks sixth homer

Cron went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in a 7-0 win over the Phillies on Wednesday.

He's been hitting well when given the opportunity lately -- over his last 30 at-bats, Cron has 10 hits, including four homers. However, those at-bats have been spread over 14 games, including three that he didn't start. The limitations on his playing time as a backup first baseman and DH leave the 27-year-old with relatively modest fantasy value despite this hot run.

  • Samir Duenez 1B | KC

Royals' Samir Duenez: Breaks through with perfect day

Duenez was perfect at the plate Wednesday, going 4-for-4 with two RBI, two runs and falling just a triple short of the cycle for Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

The first baseman has faltered a bit since making the Double-A All-Star game. Entering Wednesday, Duenez hadn't homered in 19 games, his longest drought of the season. However, he busted out in a big way and now has 13 bombs, 63 RBI and 54 runs through 104 games with the Naturals.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Calhoun (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Calhoun remains sidelined for a second straight game as he continues to nurse a hamstring injury. The injury isn't thought to be serious enough to warrant a trip to the DL, so it's possible that he'll be back in the lineup for Thursday's series finale. In the meantime, Ramon Flores will continue to man right field in his stead.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Slugs 15th homer Tuesday

Santana went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 12-10 loss to the Red Sox.

The homer was his 15th of the season and fifth in the last nine games, as Santana has posted a .364/.488/.848 slash line during that hot streak with eight RBI and 10 runs. His overall performance in 2017 still remains off last year's pace, but the 31-year-old is capable of a big kick to the finish.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Held out Tuesday

Calhoun (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

While his injury isn't expected to warrant a trip to the DL, it's still bothersome enough to keep him out of Tuesday's series opener. Calhoun should be considered day-to-day, while recently recalled Ramon Flores will start in his place in right field for the time being.

  • Nick Pratto 1B | TEX

Royals' Nick Pratto: Considered team's top prospect

Pratto, the Royals' first-round pick in 2017, is considered the team's top prospect.

Pratto has the tools to develop into a fantastic big-league hitter, but his journey is just beginning. The 18-year-old is hitting .218 with a pair of home runs and 18 RBI through his first 22 games in the Arizona Rookie League.
