  • LaMonte Wade LF | HOU

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Doubles in loss

Wade went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Tigers.

Wade lined an RBI double into right field during the second inning to put the Giants on the board. The first baseman delivered his first multi-hit performance since May 13 and had gone 0-for-10 in his previous three games entering Wednesday. The 31-year-old has struggled this season and is now slashing .171/.278/.279 with 15 RBI, 12 runs scored, 11 extra-base hits -- including one home run -- and a 21:33 BB:K across 164 plate appearances.

  • Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Back from injured list

The Pirates reinstated Rodriguez (finger) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

The 25-year-old played in eight games during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis, and he'll rejoin the active roster after Joey Bart suffered a concussion Tuesday in Arizona. Rodriguez made five starts behind the plate and 10 at first base prior to the finger injury, but he's likely to see more of his playing time at catcher while Bart is out.

  • Nationals' Andres Chaparro: Activated, sent to Triple-A

The Nationals reinstated Chaparro (oblique) from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.

Chaparro has been on the shelf for the first two months of the season due to an oblique strain, and he won't immediately join the active MLB roster now that he's healthy. The 26-year-old went 5-for-17 with a double and two RBI in five games with Rochester during his rehab assignment, and he'll remain with the affiliate until the Nationals need some lineup help.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Taking seat Wednesday

Hoskins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Red Sox.

Hoskins has hit a bit of a cold stretch of late with just one hit and eight strikeouts in his past 13 at-bats, so he'll head to the bench Wednesday after a run of 32 consecutive starts. Jake Bauers will step in at first base and bat eighth against Boston righty Brayan Bello.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Steals bag in loss

Naylor went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Pirates.

Naylor immediately extended a hit streak to six games with a single in the first inning and later stole his ninth base of the season. That's one steal shy of the career-high 10 he posted in 2023 while with Cleveland. His RBI single in the fourth inning upped the Diamondbacks' lead to 6-0 before the bullpen collapsed late. Naylor has five RBI over the last four contests, leaving him with 34 runs batted in through 54 games.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Padres' Luis Arraez: Breaks slump with three-hit game

Arraez went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Marlins.

Arraez supplied the game-tying and go-ahead hits, knocking in a run with a single in each of the fourth and fifth innings. This ended his 0-for-14 drought at the plate, which was enough to earn him a partial rest day Monday before he appeared off the bench. Prior to that slump, he had hit safely in 11 of 12 games, batting .358 (19-for-53) in that span. Overall, the contact-hitting infielder is at a .289/.322/.416 slash line with three home runs, nine doubles, three triples, 18 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases across 47 contests.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: X-rays negative on elbow

Harper was diagnosed with a bruised right elbow following his exit from Tuesday's game against Atlanta, Paul Casella of MLB.com reports.

Harper left in the first inning of Tuesday's game after being hit in the right elbow on a pitch from Spencer Strider. The good news for Harper is that X-rays came back negative, but it's unclear if he'll be available for the final two games of the series against Atlanta. Alec Bohm could see some starts at first base if Harper were to be sidelined due to his elbow injury.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Exits game after HBP

Harper left in the first inning of Tuesday's game against Atlanta due to an elbow injury, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports.

Harper was drilled in the right elbow on a pitch from Spencer Strider. Harper was pulled from the game after being attended to by a trainer, with Edmundo Sosa coming in to pinch run. An update on Harper's injury should be provided during or shortly after Tuesday's contest.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Starting against righty

Schmitt is starting at first base and batting seventh Tuesday against righty Jack Flaherty and the Tigers.

Schmitt typically starts only against lefties, but he's getting his second start of the season against a righty with LaMonte Wade struggling mightily at the plate. Schmitt is 3-for-7 with three walks in three games since getting activated from the injured list May 19.

  • LaMonte Wade LF | HOU

    Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting Tuesday

Wade is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Tigers.

Wade typically sits against lefties, but he's out of the mix in this one with righty Jack Flaherty pitching for Detroit. Wade is hitting .211 with a .297 OBP and zero home runs in 20 games this month. Casey Schmitt is starting at first base and batting seventh.
