Pete Alonso 1B | BAL
Mets' Pete Alonso: Homers in loss
Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians.
Alonso opened the scoring in the first inning, sending a fastball from Triston McKenzie into the right-field seats for his 11th homer of the year. The 29-year-old Alonso has put together an eight-game hitting streak while going 18-for-59 (.305) with three homers and a .936 OPS in his last 14 contests. He's now slashing .236/.313/.466 with 24 RBI and 28 runs scored through 214 plate appearances this season.

Matt Olson 1B | ATL
Braves' Matt Olson: Goes deep in win
Olson went 2-for-5 in Wednesday's win over the Cubs with a solo home run.
Olson launched a two-out, solo homer in the top of the seventh to extend Atlanta's lead to seven runs, giving the first baseman his fourth long ball this month and seventh overall on the season. The veteran first baseman also added a single on the night, marking his ninth multi-hit performance of the campaign and fifth in his last nine games. He's now hit safely in eight of his last 10 contests, tallying three homers and eight RBI over that stretch.

LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Gets aboard six times Wednesday
Wade went 3-for-3 with three walks, one RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates.
This was Wade's first three-hit game of the year, as well as his second three-walk effort. It's arguably the best example of what he's brought to the table in 2024 -- decent contact hitting and remarkable patience at the plate. Wade is batting .340 with a 19:12 BB:K over 19 games in May. For the season, the first baseman is at a .336/.484/.431 slash line with two home runs, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored, five doubles and one stolen base over 153 plate appearances. Wade briefly saw a full-time role earlier in the month when Jorge Soler was on the injured list, but since Soler's return, Wade has returned to a strong-side platoon with Wilmer Flores at first base.

Elehuris Montero 1B | COL
Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Sitting in second straight
Montero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
Kris Bryant will make a second straight start at first base since his return from the injured list Tuesday, with Montero hitting the bench for both contests. The 25-year-old could still see regular playing time against left-handed pitching, but Montero looks like he'll be the odd man out of the lineup versus righties for now. Despite seeing everyday playing time for most of the season, Montero has disappointed with an underwhelming .582 OPS through 153 plate appearances.

Michael Busch 3B | CHC
Cubs' Michael Busch: Sitting against southpaw
Busch is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
With a tough southpaw in Max Fried on the mound for Atlanta, the lefty-hitting Busch will retreat to the bench. Patrick Wisdom will replace Busch at first base.

Joey Meneses DH | NYM
Nationals' Joey Meneses: Homers Wednesday
Meneses went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Minnesota.
Meneses made things interesting in the ninth inning Wednesday, launching a solo shot off Jhoan Duran to lead off the frame. The 32-year-old Meneses had gotten off to a slow start this year, though he's now 6-for-17 with a pair of extra-base hits in his last three contests. Overall, he's slashing .234/.299/.299 with two homers, 24 RBI and nine runs scored through 43 games on the campaign.

Jake Bauers RF | MIL
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Sitting against lefty again
Bauers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
The Brewers are facing a southpaw (Jesus Luzardo) for the third straight game, so the lefty-hitting Bauers will remain on the bench. Owen Miller will draw the start at first base, and he should continue to work in a platoon with Bauers until Rhys Hoskins (hamstring) returns from the injured list.

Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX
Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Idle against lefty
Tellez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The lefty-hitting Tellez will hit the bench for the series finale with southpaw Blake Snell on the hill for San Francisco. Tellez will give way to the right-handed-hitting Connor Joe at first base.

Joey Gallo LF | CHW
Nationals' Joey Gallo: Getting regular work at first base
Gallo will start at first base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Twins, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Since being activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Gallo has now drawn six consecutive starts, with all coming at first base. While Joey Meneses has moved to designated hitter to accommodate Gallo, the Nationals might not have regular room in the lineup for Gallo once Lane Thomas (knee) returns from the injured list, perhaps as soon as this weekend. Gallo has gone 3-for-17 with nine strikeouts through his first five starts since coming off the IL, and he's produced a career-worst .579 OPS this season while striking out at a 47.3 percent clip.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Goes deep in win
Walker went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Dodgers.
Walker led off the top of the sixth inning with a solo homer. The blast was Walker's ninth and tied him for the team lead with Ketel Marte. May has not been kind to Walker, who is batting .194 with a .606 OPS through 18 games, but he continues to lead the Diamondbacks with 31 RBI.
