Bryce Harper 1B | PHI
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Back in action Thursday
Harper (hand) will start at first base and bat third Thursday against the Dodgers.
Harper suffered a bruised left hand during Tuesday's victory and ended up having to sit out Wednesday's contest, but the 31-year-old slugger is now feeling well enough to return to the field. He went 0-for-4 in his return from a stint on the injured list Tuesday but had slashed .423/.455/.865 with five homers and 12 RBI during a 12-game hitting streak prior to landing on the IL.

LaMonte Wade LF | HOU
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Nursing tight hamstring
Manager Bob Melvin said Thursday that Wade is dealing with tightness in his hamstring, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Wade was left out of the Giants' starting lineup for Thursday's game, and it's now been revealed that his absence is due to problems with his hamstring. Melvin noted that the 30-year-old first baseman will still likely be available for San Francisco's upcoming series versus Minnesota, but the team will take a day-to-day approach with him until the All-Star break.

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Getting Thursday off
Wade is out of the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
After going 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored during Wednesday's loss, Wade will give way Thursday to Wilmer Flores, who will start at first base and bat seventh.

Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE
Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Retreating to bench
Hoskins is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.
Hoskins will get a breather for Thursday's matinee contest after he had started each of the last seven games while going 4-for-25 with three home runs and six RBI. Jake Bauers will pick up the start at first base in Hoskins' stead.

Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Slugs another homer
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-4 loss to the Royals in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader.
Goldschmidt also went 1-for-4 in the nightcap, but he struck out a total of four times across the twin bill. The first baseman is up to 13 homers this year, with four of them coming over his last 17 contests. He's at a .229/.292/.374 slash line, 36 RBI, 46 runs scored, six stolen bases and 13 doubles through 390 plate appearances.

Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE
Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Goes yard in win
Hoskins went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-0 win over the Pirates.
Hoskins is just 4-for-30 (.133) in July, but all of those hits have gone for extra bases, including three homers. The first baseman is up to 14 long balls on the year, though his power hasn't fully returned after he missed all of 2023 with a torn left ACL. He's batting .218 with a .733 OPS, 44 RBI, 29 runs scored, eight doubles and two stolen bases through 71 contests this season.

Bryce Harper 1B | PHI
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Won't start Wednesday
Harper (hand) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
In his return from the 10-day injured list for Tuesday's 10-1 win over the Dodgers, Harper experienced no renewed complications with the hamstring injury that had previously sidelined him, but he suffered a bruise to his glove hand when it was struck by a Freddie Freeman line drive. Harper was still able to take part in pregame activities Wednesday, so the Phillies could just be holding him out of the lineup as a matter of precaution. Alec Bohm will cover first base in Harper's stead.

Bryce Harper 1B | PHI
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Nursing bruised hand
Harper is questionable to play Wednesday versus the Dodgers after bruising his left hand during Tuesday's 10-1 win, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
A line drive hit by Freddie Freeman caught Harper in a bad spot on his glove hand, and Harper is apparently still dealing with some soreness Wednesday. He will test the hand out in the batting cage before the Phillies determine if he can start. Even if Harper is withheld from the lineup Wednesday, the injury wouldn't appear to be a long-term concern.

Michael Toglia 1B | COL
Rockies' Michael Toglia: Hitting for power
Toglia went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Reds.
Toglia continued his surge in power, as he's delivered seven home runs across his last 23 games. He's also tacked on 15 RBI and 13 runs scored in that span, though he's struck out at a 28.7-percent clip and is hitting just .207. Despite the mixed results, Toglia has started 31 straight games and is locked into playing time at first base.

Jake Cronenworth 2B | SD
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Swats homer in loss
Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Mariners.
Cronenworth took Logan Gilbert deep to right in the seventh inning for the Padres' first run of the game during a night in which the team managed just four hits total. It's his 13th homer of the season, as he's on pace to set a career high in that category after hitting 21 in 2021. Since June 20, Cronenworth is slashing a healthy .313/.371/.484 with three homers, nine RBI, 18 runs and a 5:9 BB:K in 70 plate appearances.
