Giants' Rafael Devers: Two homers in Sunday's loss
Devers went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Rockies.
Devers had solo shots in the fourth and fifth innings off Tanner Gordon. This performance extended Devers' hitting streak to nine games, a span in which he has gone 12-for-33 (.364) with six long balls and nine RBI. For the season, he's batting .248 with a .791 OPS, 18 homers, 47 RBI, 43 runs scored, 24 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 89 contests.

TJ Rumfield 1B | COL
Rockies' TJ Rumfield: Racks up three hits in win
Rumfield went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Giants.
Rumfield has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games, a span that includes eight multi-hit efforts. However, he's now gone 13 contests without a home run, matching his longest power drought of the year. The first baseman is batting .301 with an .874 OPS, 12 homers, 47 RBI, 42 runs scored, 20 doubles, two triples and no stolen bases over his first 88 big-league games. As long as he's consistent at the plate, he has little chance of losing out on a near-everyday role.

Luis Garcia 1B | NYY
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Another homer, stolen base in loss
Garcia went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and a stolen base in Sunday's 11-5 loss to the Pirates.
Garcia got Washington on the board in the third inning with his two-run blast off Bubba Chandler, his 19th homer this season (a new career high) and his 10th in his last 15 games. In his last 20 contests, Garcia has gone 24-for-68 (.353) with a staggering 1.271 OPS, boosting his slash line to .282/.313/.561 with 64 RBI, 42 runs scored and three steals across 294 plate appearances this season.

LuJames Groover 1B | ARI
Diamondbacks' LuJames Groover: Bound for Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Groover to Triple-A Reno on Sunday.
After making starts in just one of the Diamondbacks' last seven games, Groover will head back to Triple-A to receive steadier playing time. Arizona recalled utility man Tim Tawa from Triple-A to join the active roster as a replacement for Groover, who slashed .167/.259/.271 with one home run, four RBI and four runs in 15 games during his month-long stay with the big club.

Davis Wendzel 1B | PIT
Pirates' Davis Wendzel: Booted from 40-man roster
The Pirates designated Wendzel for assignment Sunday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
He'll give up his spot on the 40-man roster to right-hander Noah Murdock, who exercised an upward-mobility clause in his minor-league contract. Wendzel, 29, appeared in two games for the Pirates back in June but has otherwise spent the entire campaign at Triple-A Indianapolis, with whom he's produced a .230/.349/.461 slash line and 10 home runs across 261 plate appearances.

Jared Young 1B | NYM
Mets' Jared Young: Sitting against lefty again
Young is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The Mets will leave the left-handed hitter out of the lineup for the second straight day while Atlanta sends lefty Martin Perez to the bump. Mark Vientos will fill in for Young at first base and bat cleanup.

Ildemaro Vargas 1B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: Makes second straight start
Vargas started at first base and went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Brewers.
Vargas' eighth-inning double plated what eventually turned out to be the winning run. He made a second straight start at first base and is 4-for-8 with two RBI in those two games. Saturday's start was against a right-hander, which is usually Pavin Smith's job. Even though the early-season shine has come off Vargas' bat -- he had a .102 batting average and .336 OPS over 34 games from May 20 through the end of June -- he could gain more opportunities, as Smith (.152/.260/.212) is having his own struggles at the plate.

Pavin Smith 1B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Pavin Smith: Sits against right-hander
Smith was held out of the starting lineup Saturday against Milwaukee right-hander Brandon Woodruff.
Smith is typically a lineup staple against righties, but Ildemaro Vargas got the start at first base Saturday. Smith is a career 1-for-11 against Woodruff, but the decision to sit him may have been more about a current slump. Smith is batting just .152 since coming off the injured list in late May and entered Saturday with two hits over his last 27 at-bats (.074).

Freddie Freeman 1B | LAD
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Homers in Saturday's win
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a second RBI and a walk in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Padres.
Freeman homered in the sixth inning and added an RBI single in the eighth. The first baseman has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games, going 21-for-48 (.438) with three homers and nine RBI in that span. For the season, he's hitting .297 with an .895 OPS, 15 homers, 49 RBI, 51 runs scored, three stolen bases, 22 doubles and one triple over 87 contests.

Luis Garcia 1B | NYY
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Goes yard twice in Friday's win
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and three RBI in Friday's 9-5 win over the Pirates.
The Nationals launched five homers in total on the night, with Garcia and Daylen Lile both going yard twice. Garcia's blasts came in the first inning off Mitch Keller and the seventh off Isaac Mattson, and the 26-year-old infielder has slugged a stunning nine home runs in last last 13 games, a surge that has seen him produce a .415/.478/1.148 slash line with 12 runs and 17 RBI. Garcia's 18 homers on the season in just 82 games have already tied his career high, and his 62 RBI tie him for third in the majors behind only the Athletics' Nick Kurtz (66) and the Cardinals' Jordan Walker (63).
