Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Weekend return likely
Tellez (finger) will likely return during the Brewers' weekend series against Texas, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Tellez has already been ruled out for Friday's series opener against the Rangers, but a return to the Brewers' lineup seems imminent. Manager Craig Counsell previously noted that the team wanted Tellez's bat to heat up in Triple-A before activating him from the IL, and the slugger has gone 5-for-13 with a homer and five RBI across his last three games. Once he returns, Tellez will presumably take over as the primary DH with Carlos Santana, a superior defensive player, now manning first base.

Elehuris Montero 1B | COL
Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Takes seat Friday
Montero isn't in the Rockies' lineup Friday against the White Sox, Suzie Hunter of TheDNVR.com reports.
Montero went 4-for-11 with a homer and two runs scored during Colorado's series against the D-backs and will get a breather for Friday's opener. Michael Toglia will step in as the Rockies' first baseman and bat eighth.

Pete Alonso 1B | BAL
Mets' Pete Alonso: Cranks 37th homer in win
Alonso went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's victory over the Cardinals.
Alonso launched a two-run, 437-foot home run off Adam Wainwright in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mets up 2-0. The first baseman has now homered in back-to-back contests and is up to seven long balls in the month of August, adding 16 RBI and nine runs scored over that stretch. He currently ranks third in the major leagues with 37 home runs.

Dominic Smith 1B | ATL
Nationals' Dominic Smith: On bench versus lefty
Smith is not in the lineup Thursday versus the Red Sox.
Joey Meneses will play first base and Keibert Ruiz will take a turn as the Nationals' designated hitter with left-hander Chris Sale toeing the slab for Boston. Riley Adams is catching. Smith has posted a rough .587 OPS in 147 plate appearances against lefties this year.

Spencer Steer 1B | CIN
Reds' Spencer Steer: Swipes bag in win
Steer went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 7-2 win over Cleveland.
Steer was hit by a pitch in the first inning then stole his 11th base in 13 attempts over 117 games. Other than the eight thefts in 12 attempts he had in 2021, Steer had not shown a proclivity to steal bases in the minors.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Locked in
Walker went 3-for-3 with two walks, two home runs, four RBI and a third run scored in Wednesday's 9-7 win over the Rockies.
After a two-run homer in the first inning, Walker belted another two-run job in the eighth, sending a Tyler Kinley fastball over the fence in right-center field to give Arizona the lead. The first baseman is locked in right now and will hate to leave Coors Field, where he went 6-for-11 with three walks, four homers, a double and nine RBI during the three-game set against the Rockies. He has a career 1.062 OPS over 38 games in Denver.

Freddie Freeman 1B | LAD
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Breaks mini-slump Wednesday
Freeman went 2-for-5 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Brewers.
Freeman entered Wednesday 0-for-11 with a walk and two strikeouts over his last three games. It was just the third time all year and the first time since April that he was held hitless in three straight contests. The multi-hit effort got him back on track, and he's now slashing .337/.414/.583 with 23 home runs, a league-leading 44 doubles, 16 stolen bases, 83 RBI and 102 runs scored through 119 games.

LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Taking seat Wednesday
Wade is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Rays, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The lefty-hitting Wade will begin the series finale on the bench even as Tampa Bay starts right-hander Aaron Civale, who has held right-handers to a .576 OPS this season. Granted, Civale has been tough on lefties, too, holding opposite-handed hitters to a .656 OPS. Wilmer Flores is starting at first base Wednesday in place of Wade.

Michael Toglia 1B | COL
Rockies' Michael Toglia: Moves to bench Wednesday
Toglia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
After going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run in Tuesday's 8-5 loss, Toglia will take a seat in the series finale and make way for Nolan Jones in right field. While bouncing between right field and first base, Toglia had started in nine of the Rockies' last 10 games but went just 2-for-30 with 12 strikeouts.
