  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Remains out of lineup

Cron (illness) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Cron will sit again Sunday after being scratched from Saturday's lineup with flu-like symptoms. Mike Moustakas gets the start at first base in his place and will hit fifth against Chad Kuhl and the Nationals' pitching staff.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Goes yard in loss

Wade went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Royals.

Wade opened the scoring with a solo shot off Brady Singer in the fourth inning. It's been a reasonably solid start to the season for Wade, who has two multi-hit efforts over eight games. He's hit .261 with a 7:6 BB:K, two RBI, two runs scored and three hit-by-pitches through 33 plate appearances. Wade should continue to be a fixture atop the lineup versus right-handed pitchers.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Records four hits in loss

Freeman went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI in a loss to Arizona on Saturday.

Freeman scored the Dodgers' first run after singling in the first inning, and he knocked in a run himself with a double in the sixth. The veteran first baseman has been very difficult to get out early this season, batting .429 through his initial 42 plate appearances. Over his past three games, Freeman has gone 7-for-13 with three doubles, a home run, four runs and two RBI.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Strokes two-run homer in win

Alonso went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Marlins.

Alonso extended the Mets' lead to 3-0 with a two-run blast off Miami starter Trevor Rogers. That's already the fifth homer of the season for the first baseman, and he's up to 10 RBI on the year in just nine games. Alonso is only hitting .235 but has still provided plenty of production to managers who used an early pick on him in fantasy drafts.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Scratched with flu-like symptoms

Cron was scratched from the lineup Saturday against the Nationals with flu-like symptoms.

With Cron out, Mike Moustakas will now play first base for the Rockies and Alan Trejo will get the start at the hot corner. Cron could be able to return to the lineup as soon as Sunday.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Gets day of rest

Montero is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Montero will get a day of rest against right-hander Trevor Williams. In his place, Mike Moustakas will hit fifth and play third base. Over 28 at-bats to begin 2023, Montero has hit .321 with a .785 OPS, a home run and three RBI.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Out of Saturday's lineup

Clemens is not in the lineup for Saturday's game versus the Reds.

Clemens was called up Friday and went 0-for-2 with a walk against Cincinnati in his season debut. The 26-year-old is expected to serve as the Phillies' regular first baseman against right-handed pitchers, but he's on the bench Saturday with lefty Nick Lodolo on the bump for the Reds. Alec Bohm will shift to first base while Edmundo Sosa starts at the hot corner.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Pirates' Carlos Santana: Slugs second homer

Santana went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored Friday against the White Sox.

Santana started a big offensive day for the Pirates with a solo shot in the second inning off Lucas Giolito. It was Santana's second homer in as many games, though he still has only four hits across 27 at-bats on the season.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Hitless in season debut

Clemens went 0-for-2 with a walk in Friday's 5-2 win over the Reds.

With Darick Hall (thumb) on the 10-day injured list, Clemens was promoted to the big-league club and immediately plugged into the starting lineup. Despite his lackluster debut, the Phillies are still planning on Clemens being a regular against right-handed starters.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Slugs fourth homer

Alonso went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 9-3 win over the Marlins.

The first baseman launched a solo shot off Daniel Castano in the eighth inning to cap the scoring on the afternoon for the Mets. Alonso is batting only .226 (7-for-31) to begin the season, but four of those hits left the yard and he has eight RBI in eight games.
