  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

    Phillies' Alec Bohm: Multi-homer night

Bohm went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs in a 2-0 win over the Cardinals on Friday.

Bohm went deep twice off Adam Wainwright to give his team the victory and pick up his first multi-home run game of the year. The 25-year-old third baseman appears to have recaptured the success he had in April and is now slashing .368/.400/.789 in July. Bohm is regularly batting in the bottom half of the order for the Phillies and has six long balls and 32 RBI on the season.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Exits with left wrist contusion

Cron was removed from Friday's game against the Diamondbacks in the top of the fifth inning due to a left wrist contusion.

Cron went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI to begin Friday's game but was hit by a pitch in the top of the fifth inning and removed from the game. He underwent X-rays that came back negative, so he should tentatively be considered day-to-day. If Cron misses additional time, Connor Joe and Elehuris Montero are candidates for increased looks at first base.

  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Sits against southpaw

Rivas isn't starting Friday's game against the Dodgers.

Rivas has started against just two southpaws this season, and he'll get a breather with left-hander Tyler Anderson on the mound Friday. P.J. Higgins is starting at first base and batting seventh.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

    Reds' Joey Votto: Still sidelined

Votto (back) remains on the bench for Friday's game against the Rays.

Votto hasn't played since Monday as he deals with back tightness. He didn't look entirely healthy immediately prior to that absence, going hitless in his previous four games. Brandon Drury starts at first base Friday, with Matt Reynolds starting at third.

  • Darick Hall 1B | PIT

Phillies' Darick Hall: Solid production in win

Hall went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an RBI double and an additional run scored in Thursday's 5-3 win over Washington.

Hall put the Phillies on the scoreboard with an RBI double in the third inning and eventually came around to score on a Didi Gregorius triple. He also slugged his fourth home run of the season in the seventh to extend Philadelphia's lead to 5-2. Across 31 plate appearances, Hall is slashing .290/.290/.742 with four homers and seven RBI.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Reds' Donovan Solano: Hits first homer of season

Solano went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in the first half of Thursday's doubleheader against Pittsburgh.

Solano tied the game 1-1 with a solo blast in the fifth inning off Roansy Contreras and added singles in the second and seventh. It was Solano's fourth multi-hit game of the season and his second three-hit outing. Across 53 plate appearances, he's slashing .250/.321/.417.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Steals base Thursday

Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and a stolen base Thursday in a 3-2 win in Atlanta in extra innings.

Goldschmidt doubled in the first inning and walked and stole a base in the eighth. He struck out twice and has seen an uptick in his strikeout rate with 23 punchouts in his last 82 plate appearances. Despite the increase in strikeouts, the first baseman continues to have a hot bat and has a .324/.415/.563 during that span.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Remains on bench for nightcap

Votto (back) isn't starting the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Pirates.

Votto has been dealing with back tightness recently and will remain out of the lineup for a fourth consecutive game. He didn't appear in the first game of the twin bill, and it's not clear whether he'll be available off the bench during the nightcap. Mike Moustakas is starting at first base and batting sixth.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: Retreats to bench versus lefty

Smith is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

After going 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two runs and an RBI in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Reds, the lefty-hitting Smith is beginning to make a case for playing more regularly against right-handed pitching. However, he'll head to the bench Thursday with southpaw Daniel Castano on the hill for Miami, affording J.D. Davis an opportunity to serve as the Mets' designated hitter.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Takes seat Thursday

Bohm is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Nationals.

Bohm will get a breather after he went 5-for-16 with a triple, three RBI and two runs over the last four games. Matt Vierling will take over at third base and bat eighth in the series finale.
