  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Three hits in win

Cooper went 3-for-6 with a run scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 11-6 win over the Phillies.

Getting the start at first base and hitting third, Cooper was one of five Marlins on the night to deliver a multi-hit performance. The 30-year-old has started three of five games since coming off the IL, going 7-for-13 with a homer, two doubles, four RBI and five runs. However, despite his hot streak Cooper will likely continue splitting reps at first base with Jesus Aguilar as there seems to be little room for him in the Miami outfield with Jesus Sanchez getting a long look in left.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Hits 11th homer

Cron went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a sacrifice fly during Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Pirates.

Cron took Chad Kuhl deep to cut the Pirates' lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth and later added another RBI on a sac fly in the fifth. The performance broke a 15 at-bat hitless streak and brought Cron to 11 homers and 31 RBI on the campaign.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Goes deep again

Votto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored Wednesday against the Padres.

Votto led off the bottom of the third inning with his solo blast, bringing his home run total on the season to 10. He's hit well since being activated off the injured list June 8, as he's gone deep five times and also has 17 RBI and 12 runs scored across 20 starts. For the campaign, he now has a .254/.332/.464 line with 22 runs scored and 34 RBI across 202 plate appearances.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Closes out steady month of June

Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Goldschmidt laced a pair of doubles and added a single, the latter scoring Edmundo Sosa in the fourth inning. The veteran first baseman hit .281 with an .839 OPS and five home runs during the month of June and is now slashing .252/.319/.415 in 332 plate appearances overall. Goldschmidt has also provided 11 homers and 42 RBI while going 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Racks up three singles

Walker went 3-for-5 with a run scored Wednesday against St. Louis.

Walker strung together his first three-hit game of the season, producing a trio of singles. He came around to score on Daulton Varsho's bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning. It's been a rough year overall for Walker, but he's come alive over the last week, producing a .407 (11-for-27) average during a seven-game hitting streak. That stretch has brought his season average up from .196 to .230.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: Out against lefty

Smith is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

With southpaw Max Fried on the bump for Atlanta, the lefty-hitting Smith will hit the bench while Billy McKinney steps in as the Mets' left fielder. Smith should rejoin the lineup for Thursday's series finale, when Atlanta is set to bring right-hander Ian Anderson to the hill.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Kole Calhoun: May have suffered setback Tuesday

Calhoun was removed from his rehab appearance Tuesday at Triple-A Reno due to a possible setback with his left hamstring, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

After slugging two home runs in his first rehab game Monday, Calhoun went 0-for-1 with a run scored Tuesday before he appeared to tweak the hamstring while trying to avoid being hit by a pitch. According to Piecoro, Calhoun is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Wednesday, after which the Diamondbacks should have a better sense of the severity of his injury. Calhoun has been on the shelf since late April after undergoing surgery to repair a torn hamstring tendon. Calhoun previously opened the season on the injured list after undergoing surgery in March to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Retreats to bench

Hoskins isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Although Hoskins homered in Tuesday's win over Miami, he's gone just 1-for-22 with two runs, four walks and nine strikeouts across the last six games. The 28-year-old will get a rare day off while Brad Miller takes over at first base and bats seventh.

  • Diamondbacks' Asdrubal Cabrera: Work picks up

Cabrera will start at third base and bat fifth Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Cabrera will pick up his fourth start in five games at third base, and he could end up being the main beneficiary of Ketel Marte's (hamstring) recent move to the injured list. Marte's absence could open up room for Josh Rojas to pick up more starts in the outfield, thereby allowing Eduardo Escobar to get more starts at second base while Cabrera mans the hot corner. At the very least, the switch-hitting Cabrera should be a fixture in the lineup versus southpaws, given the bevy of lefty bats on the Arizona roster.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Hopeful for weekend return

Rizzo said Wednesday that his tight lower back has shown improvement of late, and he hopes to rejoin the Cubs lineup "in a couple days," Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Based on his comments, Rizzo appears set to remain on the bench for a third consecutive game Wednesday against the Brewers, but the first baseman is apparently optimistic that he'll ready to go for the Cubs' weekend series with the Reds following Thursday's team off day. Rizzo hasn't appeared in a pinch-hitting capacity either of the past two days, so the Cubs would presumably prefer not to use him in Wednesday's series finale.
