    Marlins' Garrett Cooper: X-rays negative

Cooper underwent X-rays on his left foot Wednesday that came back negative, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cooper fouled a ball off his left foot in the top of the fourth inning Wednesday and was replaced in the bottom half of the frame after he grounded out to end the inning. He's been diagnosed with left foot soreness and is considered day-to-day. The Marlins have a scheduled day off Thursday, so Cooper will have a day to recover prior to Friday's series opener in Washington.

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Exits with apparent injury

Cooper was removed in the bottom of the fourth inning of Wednesday's game against the Brewers with an apparent injury, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cooper is likely dealing with a foot injury after fouling a ball off himself during his at-bat in the top of the fourth, according to Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com. He remained in the game initially and grounded out to end the inning, but he was spotted walking back to the dugout after the at-bat with a trainer by his side before being replaced by Magneuris Sierra in the next half inning. Expect Miami to provide an update on Cooper later Wednesday.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Not starting Wednesday

Hiura isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Hiura will get a breather after he went 2-for-11 with a triple, one run and six strikeouts in the last three games. Daniel Vogelbach will take over at first base and bat second.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Smacks fourth homer

Cron went 2-for-3 with two walks, a solo home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Giants.

Cron provided some insurance in the 10th inning by blasting his fourth home run of the season, which put the Rockies up by three runs. After connecting for only three extra-base hits in his first 14 games, Cron has hit all four of his home runs with an additional double in his last seven contests. Through 81 plate appearances, Cron is now hitting .271/.370/.500.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Kole Calhoun: Heading for MRI

Calhoun will undergo an MRI on his left hamstring Wednesday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

The 33-year-old was removed from Tuesday's win over the Padres after suffering the injury on a successful steal of third base. Calhoun seems likely to be unavailable for Wednesday's series finale versus San Diego, and it should become clear if he's expected to miss additional time when the MRI results are announced.

Diamondbacks' Kole Calhoun: Suffers apparent hamstring injury

Calhoun exited Tuesday's game against the Padres with an apparent left hamstring injury, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

The 33-year-old went 1-for-3 and was removed after suffering the injury on a successful steal of third base during the sixth inning. Calhoun should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Takes batting practice

Walker (oblique) participated in batting practice Tuesday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

The 30-year-old landed on the 10-day injured list April 12, and this is the first significant update in his recovery process. Walker is already eligible to be activated from the injured list, but it's unclear when he's expected to return to game action.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Scores twice in win

Flores went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a 12-0 shellacking of the Rockies on Monday.

Flores was effective hitting out of the two-hole Monday, keeping the line moving in both the first and second innings. The two-hit performance raised his batting average to a meager .216 on the campaign with eight runs scored. Despite his modest results, the 29-year-old has been one of the best contact hitters in the league this year, connecting with pitches 88.2 percent of the time and only striking out at a 10.2 percent clip.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Slugs second homer

Cooper went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, two RBI and two runs in Monday's win over the Brewers.

He took Angel Perdomo deep in the ninth inning to cap the scoring on the night. The 30-year-old is only slashing .200/.294/.350 through 20 games with two homers and nine RBI, but with Adam Duvall seeing more action in center field while Starling Marte (ribs) is sidelined, right field has opened up on a regular basis for Cooper.

  • Reds' Alex Blandino: Walks three times in win

Blandino went 0-for-2 with three walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 5-3 win over the Dodgers.

Blandino found ways to make an impact despite not being able to make any hard contact. The 2014 first-round pick reached base three times for the first time all year and was able to notch a steal for the first time in his young career. Blandino is slashing .318/.464/.455 with three extra-base hits, four RBI, five runs scored and a 5:6 BB:K over 15 games but could see his role diminish with Mike Moustakas (illness) set to return from the 10-day injured list in the coming days.
