  • Ryan O'Hearn RF | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Starting in return to big club

O'Hearn is in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Yankees, batting fourth as the designated hitter.

O'Hearn was recalled Monday after Adalberto Mondesi landed on the injured list once again with an oblique injury. In a somewhat surprising decision, O'Hearn will immediately be inserted into the middle of Kansas City's lineup. O'Hearn struggled at the plate during his previous stint with the Royals this season, slashing an awful .189/.246/.377 across 53 at-bats before being sent back to Triple-A Omaha on May 28. He'll face a tough task Tuesday with the Yankees sending ace Gerrit Cole to the mound.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Returns from injured list

Voit (oblique) was activated off the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Voit has missed most of the year due to injuries, first with a meniscus tear in his knee and then with a strained oblique. He got into just 12 games between the two absences and hit a poor .182/.280/.250 in 50 trips to the plate, but he's looked great in rehab action, going 8-for-19 with a pair of homers.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Out Tuesday due to suspension

Votto will serve a one-game suspension and won't be available for Tuesday's series finale in Minnesota, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Votto's suspension stems from his ejection in the Reds' 7-5 loss to the Padres on Saturday, when he was run from the game in the first inning after arguing with the home-plate umpire on a check-swing strikeout. He was initially handed a two-game ban, but after appealing the decision, he had the suspension reduced to one game. Considering the Reds are facing a quick turnaround from Monday's 12-inning loss to the Twins with a game that begins at 1:10 p.m. ET, Tuesday represents an ideal time for Votto to serve the suspension. After a team off day Wednesday, the veteran first baseman should return to the lineup for Thursday's series opener versus Atlanta.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Resting for day game

Votto is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.

With the Reds and Twins concluding their two-game set Tuesday with a contest that begins at 1:10 p.m. ET, Votto is most likely just getting some rest after he played all 12 innings in Monday night's 7-5 loss. Tyler Stephenson will step in at first base for Votto, who went 2-for-5 with a walk and three strikeouts in the series opener.

  • Nate Lowe DH | CIN

Rangers' Nate Lowe: Doubles in run

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 8-3 win over Oakland.

Lowe was part of the Rangers' five-run first inning, knocking in a run with a double and later scoring on Andy Ibanez's three-run home run. Lowe has hit safely in seven of eight contests, going 10-for-32 (.313) with three extra-base hits, five RBI and four runs scored in that span. The Rangers would ideally like more production from Lowe, who has just three homers, 16 RBI and a .660 OPS over the last 49 games, but they don't have many alternatives. That could be why manager Chris Woodward told Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News that Nick Solak, who was replaced at second base by Ibanez on Monday, will get at-bats at first base.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Swipes first bag in majors

Kirilloff went 2-for-4 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 7-5 extra-innings win over the Reds.

The steal was his first in 39 big-league games -- not surprising for a player with a career high of seven (on 13 attempts) in the minors. Kirilloff has picked up his pace a bit at the plate in June, slashing .288/.354/.407 through 17 contests, but the 23-year-old hasn't yet met his lofty expectations.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Slams ninth homer

Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk, three RBI and two runs in a 6-2 win against the Dodgers on Monday.

Cronenworth opened the scoring with his first-inning RBI double, walked in the second, and smashed a two-run home run in the fifth to extend the Padres' lead to 6-1. After hitting six home runs in his first 49 games, Cronenworth now has three in his last six along with three doubles.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Indians' Josh Naylor: Knocks sixth homer

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's 4-0 win over the Cubs.

Naylor's home run in the fifth inning was his sixth of the season and first of June. Entering Monday's game, the 24-year-old had just four extra-base hits and a .587 OPS in 15 games this month. He's slashing .255/.302/.395 through 235 plate appearances this season.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Optioned to Triple-A

Wade was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.

Wade had been finding himself in the lineup on a regular basis, starting five straight games in left field. He was hitting well, too, posting a .265/.344/.470 slash line through 94 plate appearances on the year. He'll head to the minors for now, with Alex Dickerson returning from a back injury to take his spot in left field, but he's seemingly earned the chance to return soon whenever the Giants next need another outfielder.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Cleared to hit

Cooper (back) started a throwing program and began hitting off a tee Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cooper has been cleared to resume baseball activities after he was placed on the 10-day injured list June 9 with a lumbar strain. The Marlins may want to see Cooper complete a brief minor-league rehab assignment before activating him from the IL, so he could be challenged to rejoin the big club by the end of June.
