Cooper was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left hand contusion, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cooper lasted just a single day in his return from a month-long absence due to a calf injury before getting injured again. The assignment is retroactive to Wednesday, so Cooper will be eligible to return as soon as May 11. Peter O'Brien was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans in a corresponding move.

Diaz is not starting Saturday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Though Diaz will sit for just the third time all season, his .257/.359/.514 slash line should continue to keep him in the lineup on a regular basis. Daniel Robertson will start at third base in his absence.

Cooper (hand) did not play Friday. He is still is dealing with some discomfort and it's unclear when he will be back in the lineup, MLB.com reports.

Cooper hasn't played since getting hit in the left hand by a pitch Tuesday, but it's not thought to be a serious issue.

Freeman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-2 win over the Marlins.

Freeman took Jose Urena deep in his first at-bat of the night to record his sixth homer of the season. The first baseman added a single in the ninth inning, marking his second multi-hit effort in the past three games (5-for-12 during that stretch).

Olson (hand), who went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Triple-A Las Vegas' extra-innings loss to Fresno on Friday, is progressing well overall during his time with the Aviators, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports. "He feels good. He's seeing a lot of pitches," manager Bob Melvin said. "Hit a couple balls hard the first night, had a walk. ... Maybe not his best night, but feels good seeing pitches, and it's health that we want. Still got a few more games before we potentially bring him up."

Melvin's comments actually predated Friday night's game, and Olson's ninth-inning homer in the contest only served to validate the general spirit of the Athletics skipper's words. Olson is expected to continue suiting up for Las Vegas over the weekend before being reevaluated for potential activation.

Hoskins went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in Friday's win over the Nationals.

Hoskins singled in his first at-bat before launching a three-run homer off Dan Jennings in the sixth inning to put the Phillies up for good. The long ball was his 10th of the season and second in as many games, raising his OPS to a gaudy 1.046 through 30 games (135 plate appearances).

Votto went 0-for-7 with three strikeouts in Friday's loss to the Giants.

It was Votto's second career 0-for-7 game. He's a notoriously slow starter, but there are reasons to be concerned; most notably, his strikeout rate is up 10 percentage points from a year ago. The 35-year-old has been mostly batting leadoff since mid-April.

Smith was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Smith picked the wrong time to finally figure things out at the plate. He's hitting .333/.459/.400 but has only started four games due to the emergence of Pete Alonso. Adeiny Hechavarria's contract was selected in a corresponding move after the veteran exercised an opt-out in his contract, forcing the Mets to release him or promote him. The organization elected to keep Hechavarria on the payroll, to Smith's detriment.

Rizzo went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in a 4-0 win over the Cardinals on Friday.

Rizzo's third-inning shot off Jack Flaherty provided all the runs Kyle Hendricks would need, and he contributed two singles and a walk. The 29-year-old first baseman is hitting .252 with eight home runs and 23 RBI and has now homered four times in his last five games.

O'Hearn is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers.

O'Hearn will be stationed on the bench for the third time in the last four games as left-hander Matthew Boyd is set to take the mound for Detroit. Hunter Dozier takes over at first base for the Royals while Kelvin Gutierrez starts at third base.
