Marlins' Josh Bell: Big homer off Diaz in comeback win

Bell went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 10-9 victory over the Mets in 10 innings.

Bell had two singles -- including one that drove in a run -- when he strolled to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning to face Edwin Diaz as the tying run. He then swatted one 428 feet for a three-run home run to knot things up before the Marlins eventually won in the 10th. Bell's home run -- which was his sixth of the season -- was measured at 107.9 mph off the bat. The first baseman is 10-for-25 with two long balls over his last six games.

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Idle against lefty

Wade isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Wade will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout as left-hander Ty Blach prepares to toe the slab for Colorado. Wilmer Flores will pick up a start at first base while batting third.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Gets breather Saturday

Mountcastle isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.

Mountcastle will get a day to regroup Saturday after going 1-for-16 across his last four games. While he sits, Ryan O'Hearn will pick up a start at first base while Anthony Santander serves as Baltimore's DH, opening up a spot in the outfield for Austin Hays.

  • Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Out against southpaw

Tellez isn't in the Pirates' lineup Saturday versus the Cubs.

Tellez will take a seat Saturday with lefty Shota Imanaga starting on the mound for Chicago. Connor Joe will start at first base and bat third.

  • Michael Busch 3B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Idle versus lefty

Busch isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

With lefty Bailey Falter set to start on the mound for the Bucs, the left-handed bat of Busch will remain in Chicago's dugout. His absence will give Patrick Wisdom an opportunity to start at first while batting leadoff.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Tallies three hits

Cronenworth went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Friday's win over Atlanta.

Cronenworth knocked three singles to collect his fourth three-hit performance of 2024. After beginning the campaign hitting .263 (30-for-114) through April 30, the Padres first baseman has kicked into a higher gear in May, starting the month by hitting .302 (16-for-53). Overall, Cronenworth is slashing .275/.342/.473 with seven homers and 28 RBI in 190 plate appearances this season.

  • Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Out of starting lineup versus lefty

Soderstrom is not in the starting lineup for Friday's matchup against the Royals.

The lefty-hitting Soderstrom will start from the bench as the Athletics take on lefty Cole Ragans. The 22-year-old has started in six of Oakland's last eight games, though J.D. Davis will take the field at first base Friday.

  • Joey Gallo LF | CHW

Nationals' Joey Gallo: Activated from IL

Gallo (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

As expected, Gallo will return to the big-league roster after being placed on the 10-day IL on April 27 with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. In a corresponding move, Trey Lipscomb was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Before the injury, Gallo was seeing most of his work in right field, and he should continue to play in right since Lane Thomas (knee) is still sidelined.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

Athletics' Ryan Noda: Starting to heat up in Vegas

Noda is 5-for-13 with two doubles, a home run, two RBI, three walks and four runs over his last four games with Triple-A Las Vegas.

The brief but impressive stretch is in stark contrast to Noda's first eight games following his demotion, when he posted an .083 batting average (2-for-24) without an extra-base hit. The 28-year-old, who limped to a .440 OPS during his 30 games in the majors this season, could soon earn a promotion if he stays hot.
