  • Reds' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Resting for first time in 2024

Encarnacion-Strand is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Seattle.

He'll be riding pine for the first time this season while Spencer Steer replaces him at first base and Stuart Fairchild steps in as the Reds' No. 3 hitter. Before an 0-for-4 showing in Tuesday's 3-1 loss, Encarnacion-Strand had delivered exactly two hits in four of his preceding six starts.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Out for second straight game

Cronenworth (calf) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Cronenworth will get a second straight game off to heal up from a tight calf that forced him out of Monday's 7-3 win in the series opener. The Padres are hoping that a pair of days off plus Thursday's team off day will provide sufficient time for Cronenworth to recover before the start of this weekend's three-game series with Toronto. Matthew Batten will spell Cronenworth at first base Wednesday.

  • Jared Walsh 1B | CHW

Rangers' Jared Walsh: Out against southpaw

Walsh is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Detroit.

Left-hander Tarik Skubal is the Tigers' starting pitcher Wednesday, so the lefty-hitting Walsh will begin Wednesday's game on the bench. Ezequiel Duran will play first base.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Hits not falling

Diaz went 0-for-4 with a walk Tuesday against the Angels.

Diaz is hitting only .197 across 78 plate appearances this season, and he's failed to record a hit in five of his last 10 games. However, he's remained installed as the Rays' leadoff hitter and has struck out only 16.7 percent of the time so far this year, so there's reason to believe his results will even out over time.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Takes seat versus lefty

Wade is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade is one of three lefty-hitting regulars in the lineup who will take a seat with southpaw Trevor Rogers on the bump for Miami. Mike Yastrzemski and Michael Conforto will join Wade on the bench for the series finale.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Twins' Carlos Santana: Out of lineup again Wednesday

Santana isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Baltimore.

Santana will take a seat for the second straight game, as he's getting a chance to regroup while he's struggled to a .135/.224/.154 slash line to start the season. Jose Miranda will handle first base for Minnesota on Wednesday.

  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Makes third straight start

Duran started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers.

Duran made a third consecutive start and has hit safely in all three, going 4-for-12. Prior to this run, Duran's playing time was sporadic. The injury to third baseman Josh Jung (thumb) created an opportunity, but the lefty-hitting Josh Smith has been the main beneficiary.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Homer, three RBI in win

Harper went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-0 victory over Colorado.

Harper extended the Phillies lead to 3-0 with an opposite-field double off Austin Gomber in the sixth inning before capping the scoring with a two-run homer off Tyler Kinley in the eighth. Harper's gone 3-for-7 with four RBI in his last two contests after going just 2-for-27 in his previous seven games. Overall, he's slashing .215/.301/.462 with four home runs, 11 RBI and 14 runs scored through his first 17 games this season.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Day off Tuesday

France isn't in the Mariners' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

France will get a day to regroup Tuesday after going 4-for-20 with three RBI and six strikeouts across his last five games. Luke Raley will take his place at first base and bat seventh.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

Astros' Jose Abreu: Steps out of lineup

Abreu is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Abreu is 2-for-30 over his past nine games and will head to the bench for Tuesday's contest. Jon Singleton will receive another start at first base, his third in Houston's past six games.
