Alonso's first-inning, two-run homer was initially ruled a double, but it was confirmed to have cleared the center-field fence upon review, giving him three long balls in two days. After a tough start to the second half, the 28-year-old slugger has returned to form, boasting a remarkable 1.171 OPS over his last 17 games, including eight home runs, 22 RBI and 12 runs scored in 73 plate appearances during that stretch.

Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Heads to bench amid struggles
Montero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.
Montero's stretch of eight consecutive starts will come to an end Wednesday as utility man Cole Tucker replaces him in the lineup for the series finale. Though injuries to Kris Bryant (finger) and Charlie Blackmon (hand) have opened up everyday playing time for him, Montero has yet to take advantage of the opportunity. Since being recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on July 25, Montero is hitting .195 with three extra-base hits (one home run, two doubles) and a 46.5 percent strikeout rate in 11 games.

Diaz went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over St. Louis.
Diaz is now 7-for-9 in his last two games while batting .424 (14-for-33) with two homers and a 1.153 OPS over his last eight contests. Diaz's average is up to .322 for the season, fourth best in the league, with a .917 OPS, 16 home runs, 68 runs scored and 56 RBI across 419 plate appearances.

Mountcastle went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Astros.
Mountcastle extended his hitting streak to 10 games with the first-inning blast. In that span, he's gone 17-for-36 (.472) with two homers, nine RBI and seven runs scored. The first baseman's surge has him up to a .266/.307/.471 slash line with 14 long balls, 51 RBI, 47 runs scored and three stolen bases through 82 contests. He's seeing everyday playing time between first base and designated hitter, sharing both positions primarily with Ryan O'Hearn.

Freeman has multiple hits in seven of his last nine games, going 20-for-38 (.526) in that impressive span. The first baseman leads the majors and ranks second with a 1.016 OPS through 112 contests. He's batting a stellar .343 with 23 home runs, 81 RBI, 100 runs scored and 16 stolen bases in what could end up being a career year for one of baseball's most consistent players.

Giants' Wilmer Flores: Drives in four
Flores went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two additional RBI in Tuesday's loss against the Angels.
Flores accounted for four of the Giants' five runs Tuesday, plating Luis Matos and LaMonte Wade on a third-inning single and swatting a two-run homer off Dominic Leone in the eighth. The outing marked Flores' fourth multi-hit effort in his last five games, while the long ball was his fifth in his last 18 appearances. Over that 18-game stretch, Flores is 27-for-67 (.403) with 15 RBI and 12 runs scored while striking out at a 13.3 percent clip.

Twins' Donovan Solano: Exits with injury
Solano was removed from Tuesday's game against Detroit with a right knee sprain, Audra Martin of Bally Sports North reports.
Solano appeared to jam his right ankle after making an awkward slide back into first base, but the issue is now confirmed to be in his knee. There's no word yet on how severe Solano's injury is, but more information will likely come in the near future. For now, he should be considered day-to-day.

Nationals' Dominic Smith: Sitting out nightcap
Smith isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Phillies, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
After a 3-for-4 performance during Game 1 of Tuesday's action, Smith will catch a breather for the second game. Joey Meneses will fill in at first base, moving Keibert Ruiz into the DH spot and Riley Adams in behind the dish while batting fifth.
