  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Twins' Donovan Solano: Handling everyday gig at first base

Solano will start at first base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Solano is picking up his eighth consecutive start Wednesday, with the last seven coming at first base. With Joey Gallo (intercostal) recently joining Alex Kirilloff (wrist) on the injured list, Solano looks like he'll have a clear path to a regular lineup spot until one of the two injured players returns. Solano takes a six-game hitting streak into Wednesday's contest and should be a strong source of batting average while he's playing regularly, but his fantasy utility is limited in just about every other category.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Swats fourth homer

Cron went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Cron missed a pair of games during the team's weekend series against the Nationals due to illness, but he started for the second consecutive game Tuesday. He took Miles Mikolas deep in the fifth inning to tally his fourth homer of the season and first since April 1. Overall, Cron has tallied 10 hits across 40 at-bats with eight RBI and four runs scored to begin the campaign.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

Astros' Jose Abreu: Mixed start to season

Abreu went 1-for-5 with three strikeouts Tuesday against the Pirates.

Abreu collected at least one hit in each of his first 10 games of the season, but he's also uncharacteristically struck out at a 27.8 percent clip early on. After Tuesday's performance, he's punched out three times in three of his last five games. He also has only one extra-base hit, which has led to an empty .280 batting average across 54 plate appearances on the campaign.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: On base twice, steals bag

Dalbec started at first base and went 1-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Rays.

The Red Sox held primary first baseman Triston Casas on the bench, giving Dalbec his first start since being called up from Triple-A Worcester after Boston placed Adam Duvall (wrist) on the injured list. The Red Sox opted to call up Dalbec instead of center fielder Jarren Duran because they are projected to face several lefties in the coming week and felt Dalbec's right-handed bat was a better offensive fit. At this time, first base is not considered a platoon, although Casas, much like Dalbec the last two seasons, is off to a slow start. He's batting .161 after two hitless at-bats off the bench Tuesday. The Red Sox will see right-hander Taj Bradley on Wednesday, so expect Casas back in the lineup. After Wednesday, Boston is projected to see four consecutive lefties, which means potential starts for Dalbec. At some point next week, the team could replace Dalbec with the lefty-hitting Duran, who could be part of the rotation replacing Duvall in the field.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Gets aboard four times

Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 8-5 extra-inning loss to the Rangers.

Pasquantino did his part out of the cleanup spot, but Nos. 5 and 6 hitters Edward Olivares and Michael Massey went a combined 0-for-8 with one walk. This was Pasquantino's third multi-hit effort in his last five games -- he's one of the Royals' few batters who seems to be turning things around. For the season, he's slashing .289/.400/.500 with a home run, three RBI, five doubles and four runs scored through 12 contests.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Plates nine runs in win

Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with two home runs and nine RBI in Tuesday's 12-8 victory over the Athletics.

Mountcastle picked up seven of his career-high nine RBI on the pair of home runs, which included a three-run blast in the sixth inning and a grand slam in the seventh. He also singled in a run and plated another on a sacrifice fly. Mountcastle is already up to five home runs and 18 RBI on the season while slashing .289/.320/.711 over just 11 games.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Fine after shoulder scare

Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters that Diaz will play Wednesday against the Red Sox after leaving Tuesday's game with a left shoulder injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. He went 3-for-3 with a home run and two additional runs before exiting.

Diaz left late in the contest after crashing hard on his left shoulder, and he was replaced by Manuel Margot. Fortunately the exit was just precautionary, and Diaz will be ready to roll for Wednesday's contest against the Red Sox.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Reaches three times, drives in two

Rizzo went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's victory over the Guardians. He also walked.

Rizzo singled home a run in the fourth, and he did the same thing in the sixth. The veteran first baseman has brought home six runs over 10 games, and he's slashing .314/.432/.457 over his 35 at-bats to open 2023. Rizzo has at least one hit in nine out of 10 games played.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Scratched from lineup Tuesday

Montero (hand) was scratched from the Rockies' lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Montero has some soreness in his right hand following an awkward slide into home plate Monday. He's considered day-to-day. Harold Castro will jump in at third base and bat seventh versus the visiting Cardinals and right-hander Miles Mikolas.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Out of lineup Tuesday

Walker is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Brewers.

The left-handed-hitting Pavin Smith will start at first base and bat third with ace right-hander Corbin Burnes on the mound for the Brewers. Evan Longoria is serving as Arizona's designated hitter and hitting cleanup.
