  • Kevin Padlo 1B | LAD

Pirates' Kevin Padlo: Returns to Triple-A

The Pirates optioned Padlo to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Padlo's stay in Pittsburgh will end after one week with the Pirates reinstating Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) from the 10-day injured list. During his brief time in the majors, Padlo appeared in three games and went hitless across 11 at-bats.

  • P.J. Higgins 1B | CIN

Cubs' P.J. Higgins: Filling in for banged-up Wisdom

Higgins will start at first base and bat eighth in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Cardinals.

With Patrick Wisdom (finger) on the bench for the third straight contest, Higgins will stick in the lineup for the seventh time in eight contests. Despite getting ample playing time of late, Higgins hasn't gotten going at the plate. He's gone 2-for-22 with a home run, three RBI and nine strikeouts over the Cubs' last seven contests.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Collects two hits

O'Hearn went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 6-4 win over the White Sox.

O'Hearn hadn't been in the lineup since July 28, but he got the start at designated hitter Monday. The Royals have opted to give playing time to a large number of rookies since the trade deadline, so O'Hearn remains little more than a bench bat at this point in the season. The 29-year-old is slashing .223/.282/.309 with one home run, 11 RBI and eight runs scored through 103 plate appearances, though he has hit safely in three of the last five games in which he's recorded an at-bat.

  • Darick Hall 1B | PIT

Phillies' Darick Hall: Headed to Triple-A

Hall was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley following Monday's game against the Reds, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Hall has struggled to see consistent at-bats of late, recording just four at-bats since Wednesday. Since he's limited to first base and designated hitter, Hall's playing time was destined to dwindle further once Bryce Harper (thumb) likely makes his return from the 60-day injured list next week. Per Gelb, Hall should be back in the big leagues once rosters expand Sept. 2, but the rookie will head to the minors to stay sharp in the meantime.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Shouldn't miss time

Bohm (undisclosed) felt fine after being removed early from Monday's game against the Reds, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Bohm looked to be removed from the contest due to a lower-body injury, but after the game, skipper Rob Thomson stated he decided to pull the third baseman to go with better speed on the bases. Bohm should be ready to roll for Tuesday's matchup.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

    Phillies' Alec Bohm: Pulled early

Bohm left Monday's game against the Reds with an undisclosed injury, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

According to Gelb, Bohm hadn't appeared to be moving well all game, and he was ultimately removed after the seventh inning. It's unclear at this time whether the injury will force him to miss any additional game action.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Reaches base five times

Abreu went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two walks in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Royals.

Abreu knocked three single and came around to score twice. He's produced 11 multi-hit games this month, resulting in a .367 average with 14 runs scored through 21 contests. Abreu's season slash line is up to .313/.389/.468 with 43 extra-base hits and 68 runs scored.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Bows out of starting nine

Tellez isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.

Tellez will take a seat with the Brewers set to face a lefty in Julio Urias in the series opener. Keston Hiura draws the start at first base in Tellez's absence.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Padres' Josh Bell: Homers in second straight game

Bell went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 2-1 win over Washington.

Bell accounted for both Padres runs in the contest with a two-run blast to right field in the sixth inning. Bell went hitless in his first two contests of the four-game set against his former club, but he homered in each of the final two games of the series. He appears to be emerging from a slump that saw him go 7-for-58 over his first 16 contests with San Diego.

  • Darick Hall 1B | PIT

Phillies' Darick Hall: Remains out of lineup

Hall isn't starting Monday against the Reds.

Hall is on the bench for a fourth consecutive game since Kyle Schwarber has served exclusively as the designated hitter since returning from a multi-game absence due to a calf injury. The rookie has slashed .302/.333/.628 with four home runs, two doubles, five runs and five RBI over 14 games since the start of August, so he's at least made it tough for the Phillies to justify keeping him out of the lineup.
