  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Ineligible for Toronto series

General manager Dave Dombrowski said that Bohm will be placed on the restricted list Tuesday ahead of the Phillies' two-game series in Toronto, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Bohm, catcher J.T. Realmuto and starting pitchers Aaron Nola and Kyle Gibson will all be deactivated Tuesday since none of the four are eligible to cross the Canadian border due to their vaccination statuses. Before the Toronto trip, the Phillies will wrap up their four-game series in St. Louis on Monday, and Bohm will start at third base and bat seventh in that contest.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: On bench against left-hander

Smith isn't starting Monday's game against Atlanta, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Smith is out of the lineup for the fourth time in the last seven games since left-hander Max Fried is on the mound for Atlanta on Monday. J.D. Davis will serve as the designated hitter and bat seventh.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Not in Monday's lineup

Vaughn isn't starting Monday against the Guardians.

Vaughn returned to the lineup Saturday and went 1-for-8 with a double, two runs and a strikeout over the last two games. Eloy Jimenez is serving as the designated hitter while AJ Pollock starts in left field Monday.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Gets fourth straight start

Dalbec will start at third base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Rays, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Dalbec will stick in the lineup for the fourth game in a row and should play regularly against both left- and right-handed pitching until Rafael Devers (back) is ready to rejoin the lineup. Even if Devers is able to put an end to his three-game absence Tuesday, he may serve as a designated hitter, as manager Alex Cora suggested that he wants to be cautious with the 25-year-old's usage on the Tropicana Field turf. If Devers ends up returning as a DH in Tampa Bay, Dalbec could still pick up a few more starts at third base before the All-Star break.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Back in lineup Monday

Naylor (back) is starting at first base and batting fourth Monday against the White Sox.

After he was a late scratch Sunday versus the Royals with back soreness, Naylor will be back in the lineup Monday. He's struggled to stay in the lineup recently while dealing with the back issue, but he currently owns a five-game hit streak, batting .500 with two homers, two RBI and three runs over 14 at-bats in those contests.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: In midst of power drought

Alonso went 1-for-4 with a base hit Sunday in the Mets' 2-0 extra-inning loss to the Marlins.

Though Alonso provided a solo home run in Saturday's 5-4 win, his power production has tailed off of late. He hadn't left the yard in any of his previous 11 starts, and he has just four extra-base hits in total since hammering a pair of home runs in a June 25 win over Miami. The minor slump didn't prevent Alonso from being named a reserve Sunday for the National League in next week's All-Star Game.

  • P.J. Higgins 1B | CIN

Cubs' P.J. Higgins: Slugs grand slam

Higgins went 1-for-3 with a grand slam, a walk and two total runs scored in Sunday's 11-9 loss to the Dodgers.

Higgins punctuated a strong first inning for the Cubs with his grand slam, but that was his only hit Sunday. He's gone 4-for-20 (.200) with three walks and five strikeouts through seven games in July. The 29-year-old catcher has maintained a solid .276/.353/.513 slash line with four homers, 16 RBI, 11 runs scored and four doubles through 86 plate appearances, though his path to playing time behind the dish is likely to close up with Willson Contreras working his way back from a hamstring injury. Higgins could also draw some starts at first base if his hitting earns him a place in the lineup.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Powers offense Sunday

Freeman went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 11-9 win over the Cubs.

Freeman provided key hits in the sixth and seventh innings, knocking a solo home run and an RBI single to account for the Dodgers' margin of victory. This was the first baseman's third four-hit game of the campaign, and it got his average back over .300 after it dipped below when he went 2-for-12 in his three previous contests. The 32-year-old is slashing .304/.381/.494 with 11 homers, 54 RBI, 55 runs scored, seven stolen bases and 27 doubles through 85 games.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Drives in two runs

Diaz went 3-for-4 with a double two RBI in Sunday's 10-5 loss to Cincinnati.

Diaz knocked a two-run single off Nick Lodolo as part of Tampa Bay's three-run fourth inning. The 30-year-old is absolutely scorching of late; Sunday was the ninth multi-hit outing he's produced over his last 14 games. During that stretch, he's improved his season slash line from .257/.378/.333 to .299/.412/.395. Diaz is up to 20 RBI and 19 extra-base hits through 77 games.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Clubs two long balls

Flores went 4-for-6 with two home runs, two runs and four RBI in a 12-0 win against the Padres on Sunday.

Flores was the driving force behind San Francisco's resounding victory with home runs in the third and ninth innings and singles in the fourth and sixth. The 31-year-old now has three homers in his last two games and 12 on the season, which puts him on pace to surpass his career high of 18 set in 2021 and 2017. The four-hit game was Flores' first of the season and first multi-hit performance since June 25.
