Tigers' Kody Clemens: Hits first big-league homer

Clemens went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Clemens put the Tigers ahead for good with his sixth-inning blast off Arizona reliever Joe Mantiply. This was Clemens' first major-league homer in 16 contests. The 26-year-old has hit .139 with five RBI and four runs scored while posting a 3:10 BB:K in 40 plate appearances. He hasn't hit enough to command regular playing time, instead serving as a depth option around the infield since the Tigers' outfield is in better health than it was when he was first summoned to the majors May 30.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Adds insurance with homer

Flores went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Saturday's 9-2 win over the Reds.

Flores went yard in the sixth inning. This was his second homer and fourth multi-hit performance in his last eight games. The 30-year-old infielder is up to a .249/.320/.418 slash line with nine long balls, a team-leading 40 RBI, 37 runs scored and 13 doubles through 66 contests. He's seen regular playing time throughout the season, but he doesn't have a guaranteed spot in the lineup with the Giants' infield at essentially full health. Flores should still work his way into the lineup regularly as Brandon Belt and Evan Longoria are expected to draw regular rest days, though a strict platoon is unlikely to develop.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Day off Saturday

Torkelson isn't starting Saturday against Arizona.

Torkelson went 1-for-11 with a walk and a strikeout over the last three games and will get a breather Saturday. Harold Castro is starting at first base and batting fifth.

  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

Mariners' Drew Ellis: Recalled from Triple-A

Ellis was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.

Ellis was claimed off waivers by the Mariners last week and went 3-for-15 with a homer, five RBI, two runs, two walks and six strikeouts over four games in Tacoma. However, he'll provide infield depth for the major-league club after Ty France (elbow) was placed on the 10-day injured list.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Reinstated from injured list

Arias (hand) was reinstated from the 7-day minor-league injured list Saturday.

Arias underwent surgery in early May to address his fractured hand, but he recently completed a rehab assignment with the Guardians' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate, where he went 3-for-13 with a double, two runs, a stolen base, three walks and seven strikeouts over five games. The 22-year-old is slashing .197/.269/.380 with three homers, 11 RBI, nine runs and three stolen bases at Triple-A Columbus this year.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Riding pine Saturday

Tellez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Tellez is getting a breather after he went 2-for-17 with a homer, a double, two RBI, four walks and two strikeouts over the last five games. Keston Hiura is starting at first base and batting eighth.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Not starting Saturday

Naylor isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Red Sox.

Naylor went 6-for-17 with a home run, two doubles, three runs and three RBI over his last four games, and he'll take a seat for the second time in the last three games. Owen Miller is starting at first base and batting sixth.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Not in Saturday's lineup

Gurriel is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Gurriel started the past 19 games and will head to the bench Saturday while mired in a 2-for-22 slump over his last six, with both of those hits coming in the past two contests. J.J. Matijevic will take over at first base for Houston.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Out with Grade 2 flexor strain

France was diagnosed with a Grade 2 flexor strain in his left forearm Friday and is heading to the 10-day injured list, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury during Thursday's matchup with the Athletics during a collision at first base, and he'll require some time on the injured list to get healthy. France is likely to be sidelined beyond the 10-day minimum, though he doesn't expect it to be a lengthy absence since he doesn't need surgery and will go through a period of rest and treatment. Dylan Moore started at first base in France's place Friday, though Kevin Padlo should also see some opportunities.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Steps out of lineup

Diaz is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz started the past 15 games and will receive Saturday off after posting a .203/.266/.254 slash line during that stretch. Isaac Paredes will start at third base and bat seventh versus Pittsburgh.
