  • Royals' Michael Massey: Shelved with back sprain

The Royals placed Massey on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a low back ligament sprain.

The transaction is retroactive to Saturday, so he'll be eligible to rejoin the 26-man active roster beginning June 4. Kansas City called up infielder Nick Loftin from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move, but Adam Frazier will pick up his second straight start at the keystone Sunday and should serve as the Royals' primary second baseman while Massey is on the mend from the injury.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Held out against lefty

Keith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The lefty-hitting Keith will take a seat for the series finale while southpaw Yusei Kikuchi takes the hill for Toronto. Andy Ibanez will fill in for Keith at the keystone.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Royals' Adam Frazier: Records second steal

Frazier went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-4 extra-innings win over the Rays.

Frazier's playing time has been inconsistent in May, but a spot opened up for him with Michael Massey (back) unavailable Saturday. Frazier has gone 9-for-36 (.250) over 11 contests this month, adding three extra-base hits and a 3:6 BB:K. He's at a .208/.310/.277 slash line with one home run, two steals, nine RBI and 11 runs scored over 116 plate appearances this season. Massey dealt with back issues earlier in the campaign, so there's a path for Frazier to regain a regular role if his teammate requires a stint on the injured list. Garrett Hampson could also see more time at second base, though Frazier would have the platoon advantage.

  • Vaughn Grissom SS | LAA

Red Sox's Vaughn Grissom: Resting Saturday

Grissom isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Grissom has gone just 1-for-18 across his last five contests, so he'll sit out Saturday in order to regroup. David Hamilton and Ceddanne Rafaela will make up Boston's middle infield while Grissom is on the bench.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

    Royals' Adam Frazier: Starting Saturday

Frazier is starting at second base and batting sixth against the Rays on Saturday.

Frazier will get his first start at second base since May 18 against the Athletics. With Michael Massey dealing with lower-back tightness, Frazier could see some more time at second base in the immediate future. Frazier has gone 6-for-31 with one home run and three RBI in May.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Not starting Saturday

Massey (back) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays.

Massey exited in the sixth inning of Friday's 8-1 over win over Tampa Bay due to lower-back tightness. Before the injury, he went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning. While the Royals evaluate Massey's back injury, Adam Frazier will start at second base Saturday and bat sixth against Rays right-hander Aaron Civale.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Getting rest Saturday

Mateo is not in the Orioles' starting lineup Saturday against the White Sox.

After going 1-for-2 with a three-run home run, two stolen bases and two walks Thursday, Mateo went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's 6-4 win over Chicago. He'll take a seat to begin Saturday's contest, as the Orioles start Ramon Urias at third base against White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Three hits in win

Altuve went 3-for-5 with one run scored in Friday's 6-3 win over the Athletics.

Altuve went 0-for-9 over his previous two games, which marked the first time he'd been held hitless in consecutive contests all year. Friday's effort was his seventh three-hit effort of the campaign. The second baseman's consistency atop the Astros' order is impressive, though he hadn't produced a multi-hit effort since May 5. The 34-year-old is slashing .298/.354/.476 with nine home runs, 18 RBI, 33 runs scored and seven stolen bases across 50 games this season.

  • Luis Rengifo 2B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Pops fourth homer

Rengifo went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Friday's loss to the Guardians.

Rengifo opened the scoring by popping a 413-foot solo shot in the bottom of the first. The switch-hitting Angel has been hot since returning from an illness May 17, hitting .300 (9-for-30) with two homers, three steals, four runs scored and five RBI. Overall, Rengifo is slashing .322/.374/.504 in 132 plate appearances while playing every day at second or third base.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Goes yard in win

Torres went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-0 win over the Padres.

Torres has gone 12-for-45 (.267) over his last 12 contests, adding three homers and eight RBI in that span. The second baseman started the year slow, but he's come around over the last couple of weeks while retaining a near-everyday role. For the season, he's slashing .221/.298/.318 with four homers, 15 RBI, 25 runs scored, seven doubles and four stolen bases over 219 plate appearances.
