  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Resumes rehab stint

Lowe (oblique) is in the lineup at second base for Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe began his rehab assignment Tuesday and has gone 2-for-5 with three walks, one home run and four RBI over three games. He was pulled from Durham's game Friday for precautionary reasons, but the 29-year-old is back in action Sunday. Lowe appeared in eight games for the Rays before landing on the 10-day IL on April 12.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Royals' Adam Frazier: Not starting in series finale

Frazier is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Angels.

The lefty-hitting Frazier will sit for a second straight game with the Angels sending out southpaw Patrick Sandoval for Sunday's series finale. Michael Massey will start at second base while Nelson Velazquez serves as the Royals' designated hitter Sunday. Frazier is slashing .188/.309/.250 with one home run and eight RBI over 94 plate appearances this season.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | COL

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Resting against lefty

Lopez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

With southpaw Logan Allen on the hill for Cleveland, the lefty-hitting Lopez will take a seat. Zach Remillard will replace Lopez at second base in the series finale.

  • Max Schuemann 2B | NYY

Athletics' Max Schuemann: Clears bases with timely double

Schuemann went 1-for-4 with a three-run double in a win over the Mariners on Saturday.

The rookie helped break the game open with his eighth-inning bases-loaded double, driving in all three runners to expand a razor-thin 2-1 lead for the Athletics. The clutch two-bagger extended what has been a solid stretch of offensive performances for Schuemann, who now boasts a .286 average and .423 on-base percentage over the 26 plate appearances covering his last seven games.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Getting first day off of 2024

Altuve is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

After being limited to playing in 90 games in 2023, Altuve is off to a healthy start to 2024. He's started in each of Houston's first 39 games, but he'll be on the bench Sunday in what looks to be a routine maintenance day. Mauricio Dubon will check in at second base for Altuve, who gets the day off while he's in the midst of a minor slump at the dish. Altuve has gone 3-for-21 with seven strikeouts over his last five starts.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Not starting Sunday

Mateo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Mateo will hit the bench after he had started at second base in each of the last three games while going 3-for-11 with an RBI and three runs scored. Jordan Westburg will shift over from third base to cover the keystone in place of Mateo.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Records two hits, stolen base

Keith went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 8-2 win over the Astros. He also stole a base.

Keith didn't start Friday with Houston deploying lefty Framber Valdez, but the second baseman returned Saturday and extended his hitting streak to three games. It's a small bit of progress for Keith, as the 22-year-old rookie is batting just .174 for the season. Expect the Tigers to remain patient with Keith, however, and give the talented youngster plenty of chances to settle in at the MLB level.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Smacks solo shot in rehab debut

Gelof (oblique) played a full game at second base in Triple-A Las Vegas' loss to Round Rock on Saturday, going 1-for-5 with a solo home run.

Gelof's ability to both play a full game on defense and generate enough force with the bat to clear the fences speaks to his seemingly improved health. Gelof is set to be evaluated after each rehab game to determine his progress, and if he doesn't have any concerning residual effects overnight, the 24-year-old could be back in Las Vegas' lineup Sunday.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | COL

Twins' Edouard Julien: On base three times in loss

Julien went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 10-8 loss to the Blue Jays.

The 25-year-old Canadian put together a solid performance in Toronto as the Twins' leadoff hitter. The multi-hit performance was Julien's first since April 27, snapping a slump that had seen him hit just .097 (3-for-31) over the prior 12 games, while the steal was his fourth of the season, establishing a new career high after he swiped three in 109 games last year as a rookie.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Sits against lefty

Massey is not in Saturday's lineup against the Angels.

He'll sit against lefty Tyler Anderson, with Garrett Hampson getting the nod at the keystone. Massey is hitting .273 with two home runs and two doubles in nine games this month.
