  • David Hamilton SS | MIL

Red Sox's David Hamilton: Smacks rare homer

Hamilton went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Athletics.

The homer was Hamilton's fifth of the season and his first in the month of September. The lefty-hitting infielder has struggled mightily at the plate in 2025, and he has been unable to take on a strong-side platoon role over the righty-hitting Romy Gonzalez at second base. Hamilton will likely continue to be used primarily as a pinch runner and defensive replacement, batting .201 with four doubles, 17 RBI and 21 stolen bases over 87 games.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Swipes bag Thursday

Moore went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one walk and one stolen base in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Brewers.

This was Moore's first multi-hit effort in five games since he rejoined the major-league roster. The second baseman has gone 4-for-16 with three walks and seven strikeouts in that span, though all four of his knocks have gone for extra bases. Moore is now at a .202/.297/.388 slash line, six homers, 14 RBI, 17 runs scored, four doubles, one triple and one steal through his first 44 MLB games.

  • Luis Rengifo 2B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Blasts ninth homer

Rengifo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Brewers.

Rengifo's playing time has picked up a bit while he has filled in for Yoan Moncada (ankle) at third base over the last few days, though Moncada was able to appear as a pinch hitter Thursday. Rengifo has gone 10-for-53 (.189) over 16 games in September while slipping into a utility role as the Angels get a look at some prospects in an injury-riddled infield. For the season, Rengifo has nine homers, 43 RBI, 53 runs scored, 10 stolen bases and a .240/.291/.340 slash line, with that .631 OPS being his worst since 2021.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Sitting out with minor injury

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said that Holliday is not in Thursday's lineup versus the Yankees because he's nicked up, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Mansolino didn't divulge any more details, but it seems like some general soreness Holliday is dealing with that shouldn't keep him out of action more than a day or two. Luis Vazquez is drawing a start at second base for the Orioles on Thursday, while Ryan Mountcastle has been elevated to the leadoff spot.

  • Jazz Chisholm 2B | NYY

    Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Idle Thursday

Chisholm isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.

Chisholm is slashing .259/.283/.414 with three homers, eight RBI, six runs scored and five steals through 15 games in September, and the Yankees will now use a matchup against southpaw Cade Povich as a chance to get the lefty-hitting infielder a day off. Amed Rosario will draw the start at second base instead and bat fifth.

  • Royals' Jonathan India: Out of lineup again Thursday

India is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Mariners.

It's the second straight day India has been out of the lineup. On Thursday it will be Michael Massey at second base and batting ninth for the Royals.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Tags deGrom for two-run HR

Altuve went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday in a 5-2 victory against the Rangers.

Altuve's lone hit was a two-run homer off Jacob deGrom in the third inning that snapped a 2-2 tie. The veteran second baseman hasn't hit well in September -- he's at a .170 batting average through 15 games -- but he has gone deep three times and racked up nine RBI. With 26 homers on the campaign, Altuve has long surpassed the 20 home runs he swatted across 153 regular-season contests last year.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Reclaims everyday role

Moore will start at second base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Since being recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Moore has settled back into an everyday role at the keystone for the Angels. He'll draw a fourth consecutive start Wednesday after going 2-for-9 with a pair of solo home runs, two walks and an additional run in the previous three contests.

  • Leonardo Rivas SS | SEA

Mariners' Leo Rivas: Taking seat Wednesday

Rivas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

The switch-hitting Rivas will take a seat for the fourth time in five games, with three of those absences coming against left-handed pitchers. The Mariners seem to be prioritizing Rivas ahead of Cole Young at second base of late, but Jorge Polanco will remain a factor at the position on days in which he's not serving as the designated hitter.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

    Rays' Brandon Lowe: Idle Wednesday

Lowe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Right-hander Kevin Gausman has been more effective against lefties than righties both this season and for his career, so the Rays will hold out Lowe and fellow left-handed hitter Josh Lowe for Wednesday's contest. Tristan Gray will step in for Brandon Lowe at the keystone.
