Astros' Jose Altuve: Another productive game
Altuve went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Rangers.
Altuve was a primary contributor to Houston's offense Wednesday, with his biggest knock of the day being a two-RBI double in the second inning. He has seven multi-hit performances in his last 11 starts, during which he's hit .364 with two homers, six RBI and 10 runs scored. Marcus Semien 2B | NYM
Rangers' Marcus Semien: Joins 20-20 club
Semien went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to Houston.
Semien's steal was his 20th and placed him in the 20-20 club (20 home runs, 20 steals) for the first time of his career. He joins outfielder Adolis Garcia as the second Rangers this year to achieve that feat. Semien topped his previous career high in steals (15 in 2021) earlier this season, which is due in part to the Rangers' philosophy of aggressiveness on the base paths, a benefit he talked about with Kennedi Landry of MLB.com in June.

Luis Arraez 2B | SF
Twins' Luis Arraez: Drives in three
Arraez went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Arraez accounted for the only runs off Boston starter Michael Wacha with his two-run shot to right field in the third inning. He added another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Arraez batted a modest .269 in August to drop his season average to .318, which still ranks third among qualified major-league hitters.

Zack Short 3B | DET
Tigers' Zack Short: Sent to minors
Short was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after Wednesday's loss to the Mariners, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Short was promoted by the Tigers last week and appeared in four games during his brief time in the majors, and he went 0-for-6 with a walk, two RBI and three strikeouts. The 27-year-old will head back to the minors with Spencer Torkelson and Ryan Kreidler set to be called up Thursday.

Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI
White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Knocks homer in win
Andrus went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Royals.
Andrus put the White Sox ahead with a solo shot in the fifth inning and added another RBI on a groundout in the seventh. The homer was his first since joining Chicago and his ninth of the year. The shortstop is slashing .239/.299/.372 through 117 games overall, but he's hit a little better (.250) in 11 games with the White Sox. He's added 36 RBI, 45 runs scored and eight stolen bases when accounting for his time with Oakland.

Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM
Twins' Jorge Polanco: Remains sidelined Wednesday
Polanco (kneecap) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
Polanco will sit out a fourth consecutive game while he continues to contend with left patellar tendinitis, affording Nick Gordon another start in the middle infield. The Twins are off Thursday, so the team will presumably wait and see how Polanco is feeling physically in advance of Friday's series opener with the White Sox before having a better sense of whether he'll require a stint on the injured list.
-
Sam Haggerty LF | TEX
Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Returns to lineup
Haggerty (finger) is starting Wednesday against the Tigers.
Haggerty was out of the lineup for the last three games due to a finger injury, but he'll start in left field and bat ninth Wednesday. Since the start of August, he's hit .320 with two home runs, two doubles, eight runs, seven RBI and five stolen bases.

Vidal Brujan 2B | NYM
Rays' Vidal Brujan: Returns to majors
Brujan was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Brujan headed to the minors in early July and slashed .302/.378/.460 with four homers, 28 runs, 14 RBI and nine stolen bases over 31 games following his demotion. The 24-year-old should serve as a utility man for the big-league club after Brandon Lowe (triceps) was placed on the 15-day injured list.
