  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Lands on IL

Lowe was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right triceps contusion Wednesday, retroactive to Aug. 28, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Lowe missed the last three games due to injury and will be given at least another week to recover. Isaac Paredes (undisclosed) and Yu Chang are in line for additional work at second base in Lowe's absence, while Vidal Brujan was called up from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

  • Tony Kemp 2B | MIN

Athletics' Tony Kemp: Rakes out of top of order

Kemp went 3-for-4 with a two-run double, another two-bagger and two runs in a win over the Nationals on Tuesday.

Kemp enjoyed a much-needed breakout out of the top of the order, and his third-inning two-bagger plated Nick Allen and Cal Stevenson to snap a 4-4 tie. The veteran is still plagued by a lackluster .226/.302/.310 slash line, but he's now laced a career-high 21 doubles and is seven RBI away from eclipsing the career-best 37 he tallied a season ago.

  • Mark Mathias 2B | CIN

Rangers' Mark Mathias: Riding pine Wednesday

Mathias isn't starting Wednesday against the Astros.

Mathias started four of the last five games and went 7-for-15 with a home run, a double, five RBI and three runs during that time. Adolis Garcia will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Homers, scores twice

Altuve went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored Tuesday against the Rangers.

Altuve powered Houston's modest offensive output, first leading off the game with a double before coming around to score. Two frames later, he took Dane Dunning yard to tally his 22nd homer of the campaign. Across his last 10 games, Altuve has six multi-hit performances, helping him maintain a .341 average with two homers, four RBI and eight runs scored in that span. For the season, he owns a .284/.369/.511 line across 482 plate appearances.

  • Romy Gonzalez 2B | BOS

White Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Heads to bench Tuesday

Gonzalez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

Gonzalez served as the White Sox's starting second baseman and leadoff man in each of the past three contests, going 2-for-12 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Though normal table setter Luis Robert (wrist) remains out of the lineup, AJ Pollock will get a spin as the White Sox's leadoff man Tuesday, while Leury Garcia replaces Gonzalez in the infield.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Sitting again Tuesday

Polanco (kneecap) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus Boston.

Polanco will sit for the third consecutive game since exiting Saturday's contest with left patellar tendinitis. Nick Gordon will receive another look at second base with Jake Cave starting in left field.

  • Luis Rengifo 2B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Hits another homer

Rengifo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Yankees on Monday.

Rengifo opened the scoring with a solo shot off Frankie Montas in the second inning. The infielder also went deep Sunday, and he's now homered in consecutive contests twice over the past two weeks. Rengifo is slashing .252/.252/.477 with six homers and 17 RBI through 26 games in August.

  • Sam Haggerty LF | TEX

Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Remains out Tuesday

Haggerty (finger) isn't starting Tuesday's game in Detroit.

This will be Haggerty's fourth straight game on the bench as he recovers from a finger injury, though he's expected to rejoin the lineup Wednesday, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. Mitch Haniger is the right fielder and Carlos Santana will serve as the designated hitter Tuesday.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Remains out Tuesday

Lowe (elbow) is not in the lineup Tuesday versus Miami.

Lowe, dealing with a bruised right elbow, should still be considered day-to-day leading up to Wednesday's game against the Marlins. Yu Chang is filling in as the second baseman Tuesday.

  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Heads to bench Tuesday

Arroyo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

At least while Eric Hosmer (back) is on the shelf, Arroyo appears primed to see most of the reps at first base moving forward now that primary second baseman Trevor Story is back from a stint on the injured list, but Arroyo will give way to Franchy Cordero in Tuesday's contest. Before going 0-for-4 in Monday's 4-2 loss in the series opener, Arroyo had slashed an excellent .341/.363/.455 over his previous 22 games in August.
