  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Indians' Andres Gimenez: Back in big leagues

Gimenez was called up by Cleveland on Saturday.

Gimenez came with plenty of hype over the offseason following a trade from the Mets, but he fell flat on his face, hitting just .179/.226/.308 in 29 games. He won't be in the lineup immediately upon his promotion, but he seems to have earned another shot at a regular role, as he hit .287/.342/.502 in 52 games for Triple-A Columbus. J.C. Mejia was optioned in a corresponding move.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC

Royals' Nicky Lopez: Not starting Saturday

Lopez is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals.

Lopez hits the bench after starting 10 straight games, a stretch in which he hit .265/.265/.412. Hanser Alberto will start at shortstop in his absence.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

    Twins' Luis Arraez: Resting Saturday

Arraez will sit Saturday against Houston.

Arraez has swung a hot bat since early July, hitting .424/.466/.515 over his last 19 games. He'll hit the bench for the second time in three games, with Jorge Polanco starting at second base and Willians Astudillo starting at third.

  • Ernie Clement 2B | TOR

Indians' Ernie Clement: Three hits, two runs in win

Clement went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Friday's 6-1 win over Detroit.

The 25-year-old got a start at third base to help Jose Ramirez avoid extra wear and tear on his sore elbow. Clement was solid from the bottom of the order, posting his first career three-hit game. The infielder has a modest .231/.277/.269 slash line with four RBI, 11 runs scored and three doubles through 86 plate appearances. He's a pure contact hitter, as he's striking out only 12.8 percent and walking just 3.7 percent of the time.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Not in Saturday's lineup

Torres isn't starting Saturday's game against the Mariners.

Torres has gone 6-for-15 with three doubles, five RBI, a run and a stolen base across the last four games, and he'll get his first day off in over a month. Tyler Wade will start at shortstop and bat eighth.

  • Rangers' Yonny Hernandez: Makes second straight start

Hernandez started at second base and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 4-1 loss to Oakland.

Hernandez had his contract selected Thursday and started both games since joining the Rangers. He's played third and second base in his two games and brings elite defense to Texas' infield. The Rangers have several offseason questions and want to see if Hernandez can be an answer at second base, where Nick Solak fell off the cliff after a strong April.

  • Jack Mayfield 2B | LAA

Angels' Jack Mayfield: Continues power surge

Mayfield went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI, a stolen base and a walk in a 4-3 extra-inning win over the Dodgers on Friday.

Mayfield took Dodgers starter David Price deep with a solo shot in the sixth inning. After the Angels took a one-run lead in the 10th, he tacked on an insurance run with a single to right field. Mayfield has slammed three homers over his past four games, going 7-for-14 with five RBI over that span. Prior to the hot stretch, he was batting .187 with four homers over 91 at-bats.

  • Andy Ibanez 2B | NYM

Rangers' Andy Ibanez: Day off Friday

Ibanez isn't starting Friday's game against the Athletics.

Ibanez had drawn 13 consecutive starts, but he'll get a breather after going 4-for-17 with two home runs, four RBI, four runs and three strikeouts across the last five games. Yonny Hernandez will take over at the keystone and bat ninth.

  • Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD

Red Sox's Jonathan Arauz: Joins big-league club

Arauz was recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

The 23-year-old will rejoin the Red Sox two days after being demoted with Jarren Duran (undisclosed) landing on the COVID-19 injured list. Duran hasn't tested positive for the virus at this point, so it could be a quick stay in the majors for Arauz if Duran continues to test negative.

  • Zack Short 3B | DET

Tigers' Zack Short: Not starting Friday

Short is not in the starting lineup Friday against Cleveland, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Short will sit for the second time in four games as he continues to struggle through a 4-for-48 slump that dates back to July 18. Harold Castro will start at shortstop and bat third Friday.
