    Lowe went 3-for-5 with a double, a two-run home run and three runs overall in a win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

    The hot-hitting Lowe's second-inning shot with Austin Meadows aboard extended the Rays' lead to 4-0 and his hitting streak to four games. Wednesday's multi-hit effort, Lowe's first since Aug. 4, vaulted both his monthly and season average over the .300 mark, and six (three doubles, three homers) of his 10 hits thus far in August have now gone for extra bases.

    Astros' Jose Altuve: Out as expected

    Altuve is not starting Wednesday against the Giants, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

    As expected, Altuve will sit for Wednesday's series finale while Abraham Toro gets the start at second base in his stead. The 30-year-old is hitting just .187 with three home runs, two steals and 17 strikeouts through 75 at-bats this season.

    Twins' Jorge Polanco: Smacks second homer

    Polanco went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Brewers.

    The shortstop yanked the first pitch he saw from Josh Lindblom down the right-field line and into the seats to open the scoring in the first inning. Polanco has had a solid start to the year, slashing .290/.319/.391 through 18 games with two homers, seven RBI and nine runs.

    Biggio went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk in Tuesday's extra-inning win over the Marlins.

    Biggio has largely struggled since going 5-for-13 in the opening series of the season, but he's picked up his play over the past four games, going 5-for-15 with two homers, four runs, three RBI and four walks.

    Astros' Jose Altuve: Receiving Wednesday off

    Altuve will be out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Giants, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

    The veteran second baseman has struggled through his first 16 games of the season with a .594 OPS and 17 strikeouts in 78 plate appearances, so he'll head to the bench Wednesday to further take advantage of Thursday's scheduled off day. Altuve is starting at the keystone and batting leadoff for the Astros in Tuesday's contest.

    White Sox's Danny Mendick: Collects three hits Monday

    Mendick started at second base and went 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Monday's 5-1 loss to Detroit.

    Mendick's started seven straight and eight of the last nine games while the White Sox covered for the loss of shortstop Tim Anderson (groin) and second baseman Nick Madrigal (shoulder). Mendick and Leury Garcia, who sustained a hand injury and left Monday's game, have been manning the middle infield. Mendick's performed well during this run, going 10-for-27 with three runs and two extra-base hits in his eight starts. However, his presence could end soon; Anderson is expected back Tuesday. Mendick's playing time will depend on how Garcia, who opened the season as the team's starter at second base, checks out in his medical evaluation.

    Kemp isn't starting Monday's game against the Angels.

    Kemp will sit for the third time in the past five games after going 0-for-3 with a run, one walk and two strikeouts Sunday. Chad Pinder will start at second base and bat eighth.

    Yankees' Thairo Estrada: Sent back to alternate site

    The Yankees optioned Estrada to their alternate training site Monday.

    Estrada has now been optioned to the Yankees' alternate site for the third time in five days. The 24-year-old utility man likely won't be in line for a long-term stay on the active roster in 2020 unless the Yankees are without one of DJ LeMahieu, Gio Urshela, Gleyber Torres or Tyler Wade for an extended period.

    Lowe went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored Sunday against the Yankees.

    Lowe took James Paxton deep in the seventh inning for his third home run of the season. He later came around to score the game-winning run in the ninth inning after reaching base on a fielder's choice. Lowe posted a .242/.265/.409 line against southpaws last season, yet all three of the of his home runs have come against lefties to this point in the campaign. Overall, he's hitting .275/.351/.588 across 57 plate appearances.

    Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Records fourth homer

    Biggio went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Sunday against the Red Sox.

    Biggio took Nate Eovaldi deep in the third inning for his second home run of team's series against the Red Sox. Already at four long balls on the season, Biggio has shown improved power early on by maintaining a .231 ISO. He's struggled otherwise, hitting just .192/.276/.423 through 58 plate appearances, but also has a manageable 21 percent strikeout rate.
