Kemp will sit for the second straight day against southpaw Andrew Heaney and the Angels on Friday.

Kemp had started eight straight games against eight straight righties before heading to the bench against a pair of southpaws. Chad Pinder gets the nod at second base in his absence.

Torres landed on the 10-day injured list with a mild left hamstring and quadriceps strain Friday, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

Torres' MRI on his tight left hamstring revealed merely mild injuries, but they're still enough to keep him out of action for over a week. Whether or not he'll be able to return after the minimum 10 days remains to be seen. Tyler Wade and Thairo Estrada will be the primary options at shortstop while he remains out.

Torres (hamstring) is expected to head to the injured list, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

Torres left Thursday's game against the Rays with a tight left hamstring and underwent an MRI on Friday. While the results of that test have not yet been released, early indications are that the injury is serious enough to keep him out of action for at least 10 days. Whether or not he'll need a longer absence remains to be seen.

Polanco will sit Friday against the Royals.

Polanco hits the bench for just the third time this season. Ehire Adrianza will fill in for him at shortstop.

Arraez (knee) will sit for the third straight game Friday against the Royals.

Arraez hasn't appeared in a game since aggravating a knee injury Tuesday. Ildemaro Vargas makes his third straight start at second base in his absence.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Torres (hamstring) would undergo an MRI on Friday after exiting Thursday's 10-5 loss to the Rays with left hamstring tightness, ESPN.com reports.

Torres sustained the injury when he stumbled out of the batter's box while attempting to run out a groundball in the bottom of the third inning. The Yankees will await the results of Torres' MRI before deciding whether he'll require a trip to the IL, but at the very least, the shortstop seems unlikely to be ready for the team's next game Saturday against the Mets. New York has already lost DJ LeMahieu (thumb), Aaron Judge (calf) and Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) to the injured list within the past two weeks, so the potential loss of another one of their top hitters in Torres would further weaken a squad that has lost three straight games to fall a half game behind the Rays in the AL East standings.

Altuve went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and one run scored Thursday against the Rockies.

After dropping in the Astros' order briefly, Altuve hit second in both of the team's games at Coors Field. He delivered two multi-hit games, with his double Thursday his first extra-base hit in 11 contests. Through 113 plate appearances this season, Altuve has a very uncharacteristic .190/.248/.305 line with three home runs, 15 runs scored and 12 RBI.

Rengifo is in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against San Francisco, batting ninth and playing second base.

Rengifo returns to the Angels' starting nine after taking a seat in Wednesday's loss to the Giants. Tommy La Stella will shift to first base as Albert Pujols returns to the bench.

Andrus (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Andrus has dealt with a lower-back strain in recent days that has kept him out of the starting lineup for four consecutive games. He appeared as a defensive replacement Wednesday, but he won't be available for at least 10 days while he recovers. Yadiel Rivera was recalled in a corresponding move, and he should serve as depth behind Isiah Kiner-Falefa at shortstop while Andrus is sidelined.

Kemp isn't starting Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Kemp went hitless with one walk and two strikeouts over his last 10 at-bats, and he'll take a breather for the series finale against Arizona. Chad Pinder will start at second base Thursday and bat eighth.
