Forythe (ribs) could be placed on the 60-day injured list as a maneuver to create room on the 40-man roster, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Forsythe, who hasn't played in 10 days, becomes on option as the Rangers consider alternatives that would allow them to add catcher Tim Federowicz for the final days of the season. With Jeff Mathis (back) still unavailable, Federowicz would provide roster flexibility for manager Chris Woodward.

Altuve went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Lowe (quadriceps) took at-bats in an instructional league game Tuesday but a return prior to the end of the regular season remains uncertain, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. "Timing at the plate is there," manager Kevin Cash said. "Infield is there, but the running is not quite where we need it to be for his sake."

Lowe has actually beaten the odds somewhat in terms of his recovery, as he was initially expected to miss the remainder of the season after straining his left quadriceps in a rehab game Aug. 22. However, as Cash's comments indicate, he's made significant strides since that point yet remains at less than 100 percent in terms of getting around the bases. Lowe is slated to take Wednesday off before potentially participating in a simulated game Thursday and then another instructional league game Saturday.

Chavis (shoulder, oblique) took batting practice on the field Tuesday, Bill Koch of the Providence Journal reports.

Chavis appears to be on the verge of activation and close to his first game action since Aug. 11. "He's hitting off the machine," manager Alex Cora said. "He took BP in the cage. If everything goes well he might be active over the weekend." This is a positive turn for Chavis as previous reports had the Red Sox considering shutting him down for the season.

Biggio went 4-for-5, hitting for the cycle with four RBI, three runs and two steals in an 8-5 victory against the Orioles on Tuesday.

What an incredible game from Biggio. It was his fourth multi-hit performance in his last five games, but he also went deep and swiped two bases. This was also his first game with multiple RBI since Aug. 31. Biggio is now batting .230 with 14 home runs, 42 RBI, 58 runs and 13 steals in 313 at-bats this season.

Torres went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs in an 8-0 victory against the Angels on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old has displayed a ton of power all season long, but he already has five homers in September after hitting 13 in August. In fact, half of his home runs this season have come since July 24. Torres is batting .285 with 38 home runs, 90 RBI, 96 runs and five steals in 522 at-bats this season.

X-rays on Rengifo's left hand were negative but it's unclear if he will be able to return before the end of the season, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.

He will have a CT scan Wednesday to determine if the injury is severe, so apparently the negative returns on the X-rays may not mean much. Matt Thaiss and Taylor Ward could play more while Rengifo is out and David Fletcher should play almost every day at second base.
