Chavis (shoulder) was scratched from the second game of Friday's doubleheader during his rehab stint due to right side soreness, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Chavis slugged a pair of home runs in Game 1 of the doubleheader, but he was unable to go for the nightcap. It's unclear if this setback will impact his timetable for a return.

Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's 13-5 loss to the Twins.

His eighth-inning solo shot off Sam Dyson was too little, too late for the Tigers, but it did give Rodriguez 11 homers through 67 games in the majors this year. His .228/.254/.461 slash line is less impressive, however, and while the 27-year-old is a fixture in the starting lineup right now due to an injury to Niko Goodrum (groin), Rodriguez is likely ticketed for a utility role next season.

Joseph went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI foul out and a bases-loaded walk in a win over the Royals on Thursday.

Joseph had one of the more interesting multi-RBI performances you'll see, with his foul popup in the ninth inning bringing home Seth Brown after the Royals' Cheslor Cuthbert landed in the Athletics' dugout when making the catch, allowing each runner to advance a base by rule. The 30-year-old Joseph is hitting just .189 (7-for-37) since being called up Aug.14, but he has driven in five runs and has three extra-base hits (two doubles, one home run) over his first 11 games.

Forsythe is not in the lineup Friday against the Mariners.

Forsythe has hit an awful .130/.175/.130 over his last 16 contests. Danny Santana starts at first base Friday, with Nick Solak at third.

Chavis (shoulder) played in both ends of Triple-A Pawtucket's doubleheader Thursday, going 2-for-9 with a home run and three strikeouts.

Pawtucket was rained out Wednesday, but Chavis made up for the lost at-bats by starting both games in the twin bill. He logged seven innings at second base in the first game and then served as the designated hitter for Game 2. The 24-year-old could head out west and join the team in Anaheim this weekend, though there's a chance he stays put and awaits the team's return home next week.

Merrifield went 3-for-5 with two runs scored Thursday against the Athletics.

Merrifield reached base as the leadoff hitter in the first inning, coming around to score on a Jorge Soler home run. Four frames later, he singled and ultimately came around to score again. The performance extended his hitting streak to 11 games, four of which have been multi-hit appearances. He now owns a .303/.353/.473 line across 614 plate appearances for the season.

Altuve went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Rays on Thursday.

Altuve blasted a 428-foot shot to center field in the sixth inning for his 25th home run of the season. That surpasses his previous career high of 24 long balls, established twice in the previous three campaigns. The 29-year-old has been red-hot since the start of July, hitting .346 with 15 homers and 37 RBI in 208 at-bats.

Andrus is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mariners.

Andrus has started the past eight games for Texas, slashing .188/.257/.313 with one home run and two stolen bases during that stretch. Danny Santana is starting at shortstop in this one, with Logan Forsythe getting the nod at first base and Isiah Kiner-Falefa manning the hot corner.

Merrifield went 2-for-3 with two runs in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Athletics. He also reached base after being hit by a pitch.

Merrifield has put together a 10-game hitting streak, batting .302 over that stretch while providing a home run, a stolen base, five RBI and four runs. He'll occupy the leadoff spot in Thursday's series finale as he looks to extend the streak.

Castro (calf) will start in center field and bat third Thursday against the Indians, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Castro sat out Wednesday's 4-2 loss after suffering a calf injury a night earlier, but his re-entry into the lineup for the series finale suggests he's reasonably healthy now. The versatile rookie should continue to garner extensive playing time over the final few weeks of the season as the Tigers assess whether he's a long-term piece in their rebuild.
