    Phillies' Bryson Stott: Not starting Saturday

    Stott isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.

    Stott will get a chance to rest Saturday after going 4-for-15 with a solo home run and three stolen bases over his last five games. Edmundo Sosa replaces him as Philadelphia's second baseman, batting eighth.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Taking seat Saturday

    India isn't in the Reds' lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.

    India will get a chance to catch his breath Saturday after playing in both games of Friday's doubleheader, during which he went 1-for-8 with a solo homer. Amed Rosario will fill the void at second base and bat sixth.

    Brewers' Brice Turang: Swipes two more bags

    Turang went 1-for-4 with a double, two walks, two stolen bases, a run scored and an RBI in a 14-0 win over the Reds in the second game of Friday's doubleheader.

    Turang had gone 10 games without a steal prior to Friday, though he's now swiped 39 bags on the season, third most in the majors behind Elly De La Cruz and Shohei Ohtani. Overall, Turang's slashing .255/.321/.359 on the season with seven homers, 61 runs scored and 51 RBI through 516 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Homers in loss

    India went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Brewers in the first game of Friday's doubleheader. He went 0-for-4 in the nightcap.

    India set up the extra inning with a solo blast in the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4. The home run was his 13th of the season and fifth during the month of August. The second half hasn't been kind to India (.184/.282/.313), but the Reds need healthy bodies and will continue to trot him out there every day.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Goes deep, swipes bag

    Bogaerts went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored, a stolen base and a walk in Friday's win over Tampa Bay.

    Bogaerts walked and stole second base in the fourth inning before capping off his night with a ninth-inning solo homer. He snapped a 13-game homerless drought and has gone deep just twice in 27 games this month. However, since returning from the injured list in July, Bogaerts has gone 50-for-152 (.329) through 40 games. He owns a .268/.311/.372 slash line with seven homers and nine steals through 87 games.

    Giants' Brett Wisely: Recalled from Triple-A

    The Giants recalled Wisely from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

    The Giants elected to outright Thairo Estrada to Triple-A after he cleared waivers Friday, so Wisely will now come up from the minors to replenish San Francisco's infield depth. The 25-year-old has slashed .249/.285/.363 with 24 RBI across 215 plate appearances in the majors this year, though he's gone 10-for-37 with two homers and seven RBI since returning to Sacramento on Aug. 19. He could form a platoon at second base with the righty-hitting Casey Schmitt.

    Giants' Thairo Estrada: Outrighted to Triple-A

    The Giants outrighted Estrada to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

    Estrada was placed on waivers Wednesday but went unclaimed. The infielder has struggled in 2024, logging a .590 OPS in 381 plate appearances with a .126 ISO. Brett Wisely was recalled from Sacramento to replace Estrada on the active roster.

    Diamondbacks' Luis Guillorme: On bench against lefty

    Guillorme is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.

    As per usual, Guillorme will take a seat against a left-handed pitcher (Clayton Kershaw). Kevin Newman will bat eighth and play second base Friday.

    Braves' Ozzie Albies: Has begun hitting off tee

    Albies (wrist) has begun doing some baseball activities, including light hitting off a tee, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

    Albies has been on the shelf since late July after fracturing his left wrist, and he's finally been cleared to swing, albeit lightly. The second baseman will likely require a rehab assignment prior to being activated and isn't expected to join Atlanta until mid-September.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

    Nationals' Luis Garcia: Not facing southpaw

    Garcia is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

    With lefty Shota Imanaga on the mound for Chicago, Garcia will give way to Ildemaro Vargas at second base. Garcia is 29-for-84 (.345) with four home runs and six stolen bases in August.
