Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Remains out Monday

Marte (illness) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

Marte was a late scratch from the lineup ahead of Sunday's 7-1 win due to an illness and will end up sitting out Monday's series finale. With Marte on the bench, Arizona will deploy Geraldo Perdomo and Jordan Lawlar as its starters in the middle infield.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Getting call-up for final week

The Pirates plan to recall Gonzales from Triple-A Indianapolis ahead of their three-game series in Philadelphia that begins Tuesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

After getting his first call-up to the big leagues in late June, Gonzales received a look in an everyday role in the middle infield but slashed a lowly .216/.268/.353 in 112 plate appearances before being optioned back to Triple-A in early August. Though he'll be back with the Pirates for the final week of the season, Gonzales may only be on hand as a depth option behind the likes of Ji Hwan Bae, Jared Triolo and Liover Peguero.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Goes deep in loss

Rodgers went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's loss to the Cubs.

Rodgers took Jordan Wicks deep to center in the third to get the Rockies on the board. It was just his second home run since returning from the injured at the end of July, and he's now sporting a slash line of .359/.419/.538 with six RBI, five runs and a 3:5 BB:K over his last 10 games.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Stays warm Sunday

Garcia went 4-for-9 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and an additional run scored over both games of Sunday's doubleheader versus Atlanta.

The infielder has hit safely in five straight games, four of which have been multi-hit efforts. Garcia is hitting .500 (11-for-22) over that short span, which has raised his batting average from .252 to .265 for the year. He's up to nine homers, 49 RBI, 59 runs scored and nine stolen bases over 117 contests this season. His improved stretch of hitting has helped him stay in the lineup regularly in recent weeks.

  • Forrest Wall LF | SD

Braves' Forrest Wall: Hits first big-league homer

Wall went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, two walks and a stolen base in an 8-5 win over the Nationals in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader.

Wall has mainly been limited to an in-game replacement role, but he started this contest. He was able to swat his first big-league homer in the sixth inning, and he's now 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts. The 27-year-old outfielder is expected to remain in a bench role through the end of the regular season.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Swipes two bags

Edwards went 3-for-4 with two steals in Sunday's victory over Milwaukee.

In an increasingly rare start, Edwards was able to display his main calling card, speed, as he stole second base twice in the game. The rookie has struggled to see playing time of late, as he's started only twice over the last eight games. Edwards is slashing .303/.333/.348 with three steals, 11 runs and three RBI over 71 big-league appearances.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: On base four times in win

India went 2-for-2 with one double, two walks and two runs scored in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Pirates.

India reached base in all four plate appearances Sunday and scored the game-winning run in a contest the Reds desperately needed to win. Since being reinstated from the IL on Sept. 10 following a bout with plantar fasciitis, India had only five hits in his previous 42 at-bats going into Sunday's game. Over 509 plate appearances, India's now slashing .242/.334/.400 with 16 home runs, 58 RBI, 73 runs and 13 stolen bases.

  • Jose Fermin 2B | STL

Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Out of Sunday's lineup

Fermin is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at San Diego, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Fermin finds himself on the bench for the second straight game after he started the previous three contests. The 24-year-old has a .497 OPS in 43 plate appearances this season and should continue to see opportunities during the final week with Nolan Arenado (back) shut down.

  • Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | NYM

Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Not in Sunday's lineup

Bae is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Bae went 4-for-11 with a double, a triple, a stolen base, four RBI and three runs while starting the previous three games, but he'll step out of the lineup Sunday. Jared Triolo will man the keystone in the series finale.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Scratched with illness

Marte was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Yankees due to an illness, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Marte was penciled in to start his 11th straight game but will instead hit the bench due to the illness. Jordan Lawlar was added to the lineup at shortstop, pushing Geraldo Perdomo to second base.
