  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Needs paternity list soon

McNeil is expected to land on the paternity list soon, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

McNeil's wife is due to give birth, so he will miss a small handful of games. It's unclear exactly when that will happen, however. McNeil is in the lineup Friday against the Marlins, but it's possible he misses the rest of the weekend series.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Returns to lineup

Kim (thumb) is starting Friday's game against the Giants.

Kim was out of the lineup Thursday due to a minor thumb issue but appeared off the bench and went 0-for-1 with a run and a strikeout. He'll start at shortstop and lead off Friday.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Not in Friday's lineup

Marte isn't starting Friday against the Rockies.

Marte started in the last four games and went 4-for-13 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI. However, he'll take a seat while Cooper Hummel serves as the designated hitter and bats sixth.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Ready to play Friday

Garcia (illness) is starting at shortstop and batting fifth Friday against Atlanta, Bobby Blanco of MASN Sports reports.

Garcia was pulled from Thursday's contest due to a stomach illness, but the ailment won't keep him out of the lineup for Friday's series opener. The 22-year-old is in the midst of an eight-game hit streak and has gone 9-for-30 with three doubles, three RBI and a stolen base during that stretch.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Mets' Luis Guillorme: Remains on bench

Guillorme will sit Friday against the Marlins.

Guillorme finds himself on the bench for the fourth time in five games. Two of those absences came against lefties, but his absence here against righty Pablo Lopez implies he may be slipping into a bench role. Jeff McNeil will again start at second base.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Removed again for pinch runner

Marte went 1-for-2 with two walks before being removed for a pinch runner in the eighth inning of Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Rockies.

It's been three weeks since Marte first suffered a hamstring injury, and Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo continues to play it safe with him. This was the second consecutive game in which he was removed for a pinch runner in the late innings. Marte has not played the field since returning from the injury.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Swipes bag in loss

Rojas went 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Thursday's 4-3 loss to Colorado.

Rojas stole his sixth base in 52 games without being caught during the seventh inning but was stranded at second base. The utility infielder was active on the basepaths in the minors, notching double-digit steals in 2018 and 2019, but Rojas has been slightly less aggressive at the major-league level.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Slugs two-run homer

Lux went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a 5-3 victory over the Cubs on Thursday.

Lux went deep to right field with a man on base in the second inning to give Los Angeles a 3-0 lead. The long ball was his first since June 10 -- a span of 21 games. Lux hasn't displayed much power with just three homers on the season, but he's been a solid contributor near the bottom of the order with a .295/.365/.409 slash line, 19 RBI, 41 runs and five stolen bases over 266 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Four hits across doubleheader

India went 4-for-8 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored while starting both games of Thursday's doubleheader against the Pirates.

India poked a go-ahead RBI single in the evening game to cap his impressive day and help the Reds salvage a split in the twin bill. This has been an incredibly disappointing season to date for India, as he's battled various injuries, the most recent being an ankle injury suffered on a hit-by-pitch Wednesday. X-rays were negative and his performance suggests the ankle is nothing to worry about, but he hasn't been running much at all after the hamstring trouble earlier in the season. Until last year's NL Rookie of the Year can put together a stretch of sustained health, his production will continue to lag behind.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Dealing with stomach issue

Garcia exited Thursday's game against the Phillies due to a stomach illness, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Garcia was seen grabbing at his left side after grounding out in the sixth inning, which led to speculation that he suffered an upper-body injury. However, after the game, manager Dave Martinez clarified that Garcia was dealing with a stomach illness. That's positive news for Garcia's potential availability for the Nationals' weekend series in Atlanta.
