Adam Frazier 2B | LAA
Padres' Adam Frazier: Finding form at plate
Frazier went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run Wednesday in the Padres' 11-9 loss to the Dodgers.
Frazier has churned out multi-hit performances in three of his last four games to lift his season average to .307. Since coming over from Pittsburgh in a July 25 trade, Frazier's average sits at a more modest .272, and though he's chipped in five stolen bases over the past two-plus months, he's offered limited production in the other counting-stats categories (one home run, 25 runs and 11 RBI in 53 games).

Michael Chavis 2B | CIN
Pirates' Michael Chavis: Returns to lineup
Chavis went 0-for-4 on Wednesday in his first start since returning from the injured list.
He batted leadoff and started at second base and later moved to third base. With starting third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes (wrist) done for the year, Chavis figures to see steady action over the last four games. He's hit 17 homers in 2021, including 14 in the minors, and will be looking to impress his new organization before season's end.

Gavin Lux SS | TB
Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Dealing with neck stinger
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described the injury Lux sustained in Wednesday's 11-9 win over the Padres as a "neck stinger," Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Lux looked as though he injured his right shoulder when he collided with the center-field wall while chasing down a fly ball in the sixth inning, but Roberts offered a different diagnosis for the 23-year-old after the contest. Roberts indicated Lux will be re-evaluated early Thursday, but it wouldn't be surprising if he was held out of the series finale with the Padres later in the day even if the neck issue is viewed as a day-to-day concern.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Settles in at second base
Marte started at second base and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Giants.
Marte started at the keystone for the 10th consecutive game and has played at least an inning there in 12 straight. The Diamondbacks appear to be preparing him as the 2022 starter at second base.

Gavin Lux SS | TB
Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Leaves after collision
Lux collided with the outfield wall attempting to make a catch during the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against the Padres and was removed with an apparent right shoulder injury, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Lux made his first start in center field last week and started his sixth straight game there Wednesday, and his inexperience showed a bit versus the Padres. The severity of the injury remains unclear, and the 23-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status. He went hitless in two at-bats Wednesday before departing.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Likely done for 2021
Hoerner isn't expected to play again this season while he contends with lingering soreness from previous injuries, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Hoerner hasn't seen the field since Saturday and will sit out a fourth consecutive game Wednesday against the Pirates. Though the Cubs have thus far resisted placing Hoerner on the injured list, he may be available only in an emergency over the team's final five games. Sergio Alcantara will serve as the primary option at shortstop while Hoerner is out.

Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL
Giants' Thairo Estrada: X-rays negative
Estrada (hand) underwent X-rays that came back negative Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Estrada was hit by a pitch in the seventh inning of Tuesday's matchup against Arizona, but he'll be out of the lineup for Wednesday's game. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available off the bench.

Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Riding pine Wednesday
Rojas isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Rojas went 1-for-4 with a double, a run, an RBI and a strikeout Tuesday, but he'll head to the bench for the second time in the last three games. Geraldo Perdomo will start at shortstop and bat eighth.

Luis Urias 2B | ATH
Brewers' Luis Urias: Idle Wednesday
Urias is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
Urias will head to the bench after he went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-2 loss. Though he filled in at shortstop Tuesday while Willy Adames nursed a quadriceps injury, Urias is expected to see most of his reps at third base during the rest of the season while Eduardo Escobar serves as the primary replacement at first base for Rowdy Tellez (kneecap).

Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Mets' Jeff McNeil: Retreats to bench
McNeil isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
McNeil will take a seat for the second time in the last three games after he went 0-for-8 with a walk and two strikeouts across his last four appearances. Dominic Smith will start in left field and bat seventh.
