  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Takes seat in finale

McNeil is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Since the Mets have been eliminated from the postseason, manager Luis Rojas will rest a few of his everyday players in McNeil, Dominic Smith and J.D. Davis with little at stake in the regular-season finale. Assuming McNeil goes unused off the bench, he'll wrap up his third big-league season with a .311/.383/.454 slash line over 209 plate appearances.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Smacks fourth homer

Rosario went 1-for-2 with a solo home run during a 4-3 loss to the Nationals in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

Andres Gimenez got the start at shortstop for the matinee but left in the second inning with an oblique strain, and Rosario then took Max Scherzer deep in the fourth as his replacement. After an 0-for-3 showing in the nightcap, Rosario is wrapping up a tough campaign that's put his spot as the Mets' shortstop of the future in jeopardy, posting a .245/.266/.367 slash line with four homers, 15 RBI, 20 runs and a baffling zero steals on only one attempt through 45 games.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Mets' Andres Gimenez: Moves to injured list

Gimenez was placed on the 10-day injured list with right oblique tightness after Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The 22-year-old was lifted from Saturday's matinee with the oblique issue, and he'll end up missing the final two games of the season. Gimenez will finish his rookie campaign with a .263/.333/.398 slash line, three homers, 12 RBI and eight stolen bases in 132 plate appearances. Amed Rosario will take over at shortstop for the Mets in the nightcap.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Mets' Andres Gimenez: Season could be over

Gimenez exited Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Nationals due to right oblique tightness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports

Gimenez tweaked his oblique during an at-bat in the top of the second inning, and the injury could bring his promising rookie season to an end. If he's indeed sidelined for the final two games of the regular season, Amed Rosario could take over as the shortstop.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Mets' Andres Gimenez: Exits with apparent injury

Gimenez left Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Nationals with an apparent injury, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Gimenez appeared to tweak something when fouling a ball off in the top of the second inning, and he was replaced by Amed Rosario in the middle of his at-bat. It wasn't clear what kind of injury he suffered and whether he'll be available for the Mets' final two games of the regular season remains to be seen.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Not starting nightcap

Marte isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader against the Rockies.

Marte will retreat to the bench after going 1-for-3 with one walk in the first game of the twin bill. Josh VanMeter will take over at second base.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Belts long ball in second straight

Frazier went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the Pirates' 7-0 win over the Cubs on Thursday.

Frazier's long ball off Alec Mills was his second in as many days. The outfielder added an RBI single an inning later and now has seven homers and 21 RBI on the campaign.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Mets' Andres Gimenez: Sitting vs. southpaw
