  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Heads to injured list

Rodgers was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder capsular strain Monday.

The infielder's placement on the injured list is retroactive to Sunday, so he could return as soon Sept. 9. The move shouldn't have a huge impact on the Rockies' lineup, as Rodgers has played in a backup role this season.

  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Marlins' Isan Diaz: Intends to return

Diaz (opt out) committed Monday to rejoin the Marlins and is awaiting reinstatement from MLB, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Diaz opted out of the season in early August amid the team's COVID-19 outbreak, but he's since changed his mind about playing in 2020. The Marlins traded Jonathan Villar to the Blue Jays on Monday, so Diaz should take over as the starting second baseman if his request for reinstatement is approved. The 24-year-old struggled in his first taste of major-league action in 2019 and went 2-for-9 with two runs in two games this season prior to opting out.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Collects first hits of campaign

Lux went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's win over the Rangers.

Lux entered the contest having gone hitless over his first seven at-bats but got off the schneid with a fourth inning single before doubling in the sixth. The rookie is expected to play on an everyday basis against right-handed pitchers, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Still hasn't taken BP

Manager Brian Snitker said Sunday that Albies (wrist) still hasn't taken batting practice on the field, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Albies recently resumed swinging as he continues to rehab from a right-wrist bone contusion. However, his lack of batting practice so far in his recovery signals that he will require more time prior to rejoining the major-league roster. Johan Camargo should continue to see increased playing time at second base while Albies is sidelined.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Mets' Luis Guillorme: Losing out on playing time

Guillorme is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.

Guillorme drew six consecutive starts at one point earlier this month, but he's faded back into a reserve role over the past two weeks following Robinson Cano's return from the injured list. Now on the bench for the fourth time in five games, Guillorme probably isn't worth rostering outside of NL-only leagues.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: On bench Game 1

Rosario is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Rosario is 4-for-20 over his past seven games and will take a seat for Sunday's matinee. Andres Gimenez will start at shortstop and bat ninth for the Mets.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

    Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Receiving callup

Lux is being called up by the Dodgers on Saturday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

It was only a matter of time before Lux was finally recalled to the major league squad. He is the Dodgers' top prospect and one of the top overall prospects in all of baseball and should figure to assume the everyday role at second base. Chris Taylor figures to be his backup at the position but could still find starts at other spots around the diamond.

  • Mark Mathias 2B | CIN

Brewers' Mark Mathias: Capitalizing on opportunities

Mathias went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Friday's victory over the Pirates.

Mathias has started just seven games all season, but he has made the most of his opportunities, tallying nine hits in 28 at-bats -- good for a .321 batting average. He appears to have found a regular role for now, as he manned a corner outfield spot each of the last three times the Brewers faced a left-handed starter.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Not in Saturday's lineup

McNeil isn't in Saturday's lineup against the Yankees, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.

McNeil started both games of Friday's doubleheader, but he'll get a day off Saturday. Brandon Nimmo will shift to left field with Billy Hamilton starting in center field.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Scores two runs against Giants

Marte went 2-for-3 a double and two runs scored in Friday's win over San Francisco.

Marte continues to produce at a steady rate and has been one of the most consistent hitters in the Diamondbacks lineup. The star second baseman is hitting .309 with eight doubles, eight RBI and 11 runs scored in 97 at-bats this month.
