Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Won't play in Friday's matchup

Lux won't play in Friday's intrasquad matchup, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Lux reported to camp Friday and was initially expected to play in the team's intrasquad game. However, manager Dave Roberts said that he'll have the 22-year-old participate in workouts for several days prior to joining game action. Despite his absence from Friday's lineup, he doesn't have any known injury or illness concerns preventing him from playing.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Arrives at camp

Lux (undisclosed) has reported to the Dodgers' camp and will play second base during Friday's intrasquad matchup, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Lux was absent from camp for the first several days for an undisclosed reason, but his presence in the starting lineup Friday signals that he's cleared intake testing. Whether Lux's absence will impact his readiness for the start of the regular season remains to be seen. The Dodgers are scheduled to open the season against the Giants on July 23.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Added to 60-man pool

Turang was added to Milwaukee's 60-man player pool Thursday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Turang spent spring training with the big club before things were shut down, going 2-for-13 with a pair of walks. The 20-year-old isn't expected to see time in the majors during the shortened 2020 season, but as one of the team's top prospects the Brewers are sending him to their alternate site while minor-league baseball remains shut down.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Joins 60-player pool

Gorman was added to the Cardinals' 60-player roster pool Wednesday and will report to the alternate training site in Springfield, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The 20-year-old is still unlikely to make his big-league debut in 2020, but the move to the 60-man pool will allow him to continue his developmental work in the absence of a minor-league season. Gorman finished 2019 at High-A Palm Beach and had a .256/.304/.428 slash line in 58 games.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Could fill in at RF

Rojas was mentioned Monday as a possible fill-in for Kole Calhoun (illness) by Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Calhoun, the Diamondbacks' projected starter in right field, tested positive for COVID-19, and his return in time for the regular season is uncertain. Lovullo mentioned Rojas, along with Jon Jay and Trayce Thompson, as potential replacements for Calhoun if he's unavailable for Opening Day.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Second baseman could serve as DH

Frazier is expected to serve as the team's starting second baseman and occasional designated hitter, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

The 28-year-old could bat third in the lineup, replacing the departed Starling Marte. Manager Derek Shelton said that while Frazier was a "good enough athlete" to play in the outfield he would likely stay at second base. "There's no plans for him to go out and play left. It's just to be in the infield, at second," Shelton said. "I would assume he's going to get some DH days because it gets him off his feet." Frazier spent the last couple months working out at Mississippi State, where he played collegiate baseball.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Just like spring training

Marte went 2-for-2 with a double and a home run during an intra-squad game Monday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Marte opened summer camp much like spring training when he homered in his first at-bat of the Cactus League. He could move around defensively but is expected to make second base his primary home.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Yet to report

Lux has yet to report to camp, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

If Lux's absence is due to COVID-19, the Dodgers wouldn't legally be allowed to confirm as much. Manager Dave Roberts didn't provide any details Monday. An absence for Lux at the start of the season would likely translate to more at-bats for Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernandez at second base.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Brewers' Luis Urias: Tests positive for coronavirus

Manager Craig Counsell revealed Monday that Urias tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the start of the Brewers' summer camp last week, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Counsell also noted that pitcher Angel Perdomo tested positive prior to intake after both Perdomo and Urias consented to their test results being made public. According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Urias is currently asymptomatic, but he'll still be required to complete a quarantine period and receive two negative COVID-19 test results before he's allowed to rejoin the Brewers for workouts. Urias had already missed a good chunk of spring training with a wrist injury, so his absence early on in summer camp could hurt his case for capturing a meaningful role with Milwaukee right away when the season begins in late July.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Beginnning workouts Sunday

Manager Luis Rojas said Rosario will participate in the Mets' workouts Sunday afternoon, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.

The 24-year-old was absent for the first couple days of team workouts but will get in on the action Sunday. Rosario is poised to start at shortstop for the Mets again in 2020 after posting a .287/.323/.432 slash line with 15 homers, 72 RBI and 19 stolen bases last season.
