  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Will play in AFL

Hoerner (elbow) is set to play for Mesa in the Arizona Fall League, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The 21-year-old was shut down with a ligament strain in his left elbow but is set to compete in the tuneup league to continue his prospect development. In three low-level farm stops this season before he was deactivated in July, Hoerner went .327 (16-for-49) with two doubles, two triples, two home runs and six stolen bases, with his last stop coming at Low-A South Bend.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Hits bench Saturday

Albies is not starting Saturday against the Pirates.

Albies hit just .245/.297/.309 in August. Charlie Culberson will start at second base in his place.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Not starting Saturday

McNeil is not in the lineup Saturday against the Giants.

McNeil has carried his hot bat with him to the majors, hitting an impressive .319/.386/.471 after posting a combined .342/.411/.617 line with Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas prior to his promotion. He'll be given plenty of at-bats down the stretch, though he'll sit Saturday with Jay Bruce starting at first base and Wilmer Flores at second.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Returns to lineup

Rosario (mouth) is back in the lineup Saturday against the Giants.

Rosario sat out Friday's contest after undergoing a root canal, though he was reportedly available off the bench. He'll be a full participant Saturday, leading off and playing shortstop.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Padres' Luis Urias: Smacks first homer

Urias went 1-for-3 with his first major-league home run and two RBI in Friday's 7-0 win over Colorado.

Urias narrowly missed his first homer due to replay review Wednesday, but this time he managed to keep the ball fair. The 22-year-old prospect has gotten off to hot start in his first four games with the Padres, going 4-for-15 with a double, a homer and a steal. Urias only connected for eight long balls in 120 games with Triple-A El Paso prior to his recent promotion, so fantasy owners shouldn't expect a ton of power this early in his career. That said, the second baseman has been batting second in the order, so he could provide value in redraft leagues while seeing regular playing time over the final month of the season.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Dealing with root canal, available off bench

Rosario is out of the lineup due to a root canal, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Jose Reyes is starting at shortstop in his place. Rosario will be available off the bench and should rejoin the starting lineup Saturday.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Not in Friday's lineup

Rosario is out of the lineup against San Francisco on Friday, Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group reports.

Rosario will take a seat following seven straight starts as Jose Reyes mans the shortstop position for the series opener. Look for Rosario to rejoin the starting nine Saturday.

  • Dilson Herrera 2B | CIN

Reds' Dilson Herrera: Knocks in run vs. Milwaukee

Herrera went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Brewers.

Herrera drove in Cincinnati's lone run on the day in the seventh inning on a double to left field. The 24-year-old second baseman has struggled to a .193 average with three homers and seven RBI through 35 games this season, so don't expect much production from him down the stretch of the 2018 campaign.

  • Nick Franklin 2B | PIT

Brewers' Nick Franklin: Shifts rehab to High-A

Franklin (quadriceps) moved his rehab assignment to High-A Carolina on Wednesday and went 1-for-3 with two walks in the affiliate's 10-9 win over Down East.

Making the fourth appearance of his minor-league assignment, Franklin started at second base and played seven innings in the field before departing. Franklin, who has been on the 60-day disabled list since early May with the injury, will likely require at least a few more games in the minors before the Brewers reinstate him. If Franklin is included among the team's September callups, he'll likely be limited to a bit role off the bench.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Padres' Luis Urias: Collects first big-league hits

Urias went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Mariners.

Urias roped a single to right field in the third inning for his first career major-league hit in what was his second game. He added a double in the sixth frame and another single in the eighth. The rookie also narrowly missed out on his first career big-league home run -- it was taken away after a replay review. Urias has hit second in both of his starts for the Padres so far and figures to stick there as long as he holds his own at the dish.
