Rosario was diagnosed with left quadriceps tightness after undergoing an MRI on Tuesday and is considered day-to-day, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

The 24-year-old was removed from Monday's game with the same diagnosis, so it appears he avoided a more serious injury. Rosario is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals, with Andres Gimenez starting at shortstop in his place.

McNeil (back) was diagnosed with a low-grade right intercostal strain Tuesday and is considered day-to-day, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

The 28-year-old was scratched from Monday's lineup with lower-back tightness, and he'll avoid the injured list for now after undergoing an MRI on Tuesday. McNeil and Amed Rosario (quadriceps) are out of the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals, while Robinson Cano (groin) was placed on the injured list.

It sounds like this could be just a day-to-day situation for McNeil, but back injuries are always tricky to predict. Luis Guillorme and Andres Gimenez could pick up extra starts at third base if McNeil misses more than just Monday's game.

J.D. Davis will start at designated hitter with Dominic Smith starting in left field. There has been no reason given for McNeil's removal from the lineup.

Jackson will report to the team's alternate training site in Long Beach, CA. With no minor-league games this season, he'll get the chance to continue his development in the best available environment, though he's highly unlikely to make his debut this season, as he's yet to play above rookie ball.
