Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Mets' Jeff McNeil: Big night at plate
McNeil went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored Tuesday against the Nationals.
McNeil did much of his damage late in the game, popping a solo homer in the eighth inning -- his 18th of the season. Just one frame later, he came through with a two-RBI single to extend the Mets' lead. McNeil had struggled since coming off the injured list Aug. 24, collecting just three hits across his first 25 at-bats. However, he's now reached base multiple times and homered in consecutive games. For the season, McNeil still owns a stellar .323/.390/.529 line across 480 plate appearances.

He will be tested Tuesday with an assignment atop the order as Joc Pederson sits with an abdominal bruise. Manager Dave Roberts told Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com that Lux will start almost every game at second base against right-handers this month. Lux should be owned in virtually all fantasy leagues.

The 25-year-old spent the season with Triple-A Charlotte, hitting a solid .279/.368/.444. He's considered a fringe prospect, with no standout tools, though he could get a fair amount of at-bats down the stretch in an audition for next season.

Pablo Sandoval (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list to clear a roster spot.
